HandBrake Drift MOD
maybe they are talking about limiting the wheels speed and at the same time on the gas to maintain the speed.. Maybe doing this so you have a more consistent speed or rpm to keep a drift longer and at the same time not too much speed so you wont overshoot? Never tried this or heard of for drifting, but I think it kinda makes a bit sense to me. Theoreticly it should work? But iono, would I actually try this? It would have to be a really long sweeper maybe a 3rd gear one...iono kinda scary to tap that brake with my left..I might **** bricks if I **** that up hahha
Ok, maybe I should have clarified "To maintain rear wheel speed and slip angle". I am not talking about car speed. In fact that is what you are trying to reduce with left foot braking so you hit the clipping point.

i still dont see it...
the only time i could possible think you would need to left foot brake it during understeer.
i dont see how this would helpyou hit a clippin point.
I have let off the gas and smashed on the brakes to hit a clipping point ( usually after a really fast entry into a tight turn) after i have turned in a little bit get the car to change the angle. the put the clutch in and keep the engine revving. but left foot braking just sounds like something you would need to do when youre grip racing or living out initial d in a fantasy world

It helps when you enter a corner too fast or its a decreasing radius. Really its just to modify your line while maintaining drift. I use it exactly the opposite as ebrake. Ebrake for moving my line away from the apex (ie at my current speed I will cut the corner) and Left foot braking + gas to bring my line closer to the apex (ie when I cannot scrub off enough speed and will be wide through the clipping point).
edit: Now that I read your response more, you are partially correct. If you enter a corner too fast you are going to understeer and not hit the clipping point (go wide). Left foot braking transitions weight to the front wheels giving them more grip + it slows the car down and allows you to hit the clipping point.
Also, a side benefit is that it produces a nice smoke cloud.

werd,
it sounds like we do the same thing i just dont hit the gas as much as you would.
it usually full throttle, coasting, or full braking for. i havent really tried anything in between yet

I'm only using it because a pro has been teaching me.

not calling anyone out but i wanna see these "4th gear texans" no offense or anything i just would like to see how you guys put it down in the rodeo state.
Just so you know, in no way am I "good". The left foot braking is just one of the methods I've been talk by good drivers.

I tried that but the first time i pulled the ebrake, the rod came away from the ratchet.
is this ment to happen?
