front sway bar

I'm just wondering if the front sway bar has to be removed when running modded spindles on an fc.

Ok thanks. How much does it affect the handling by removing the sway bar?

If you got some stiff suspension it wouldn't make a difference.

I'm running pbm comps. And yes they are stiff. I haven't drove the car with them in yet being there is 2 feet of snow in front of the garage door. Lol so I hope they aren't to to stiff.

yes remove sway bar and you'll probably want to run 8kg front 6kg rear to start out with..

Do you guys use strut bars when running without sway bars or it doesn't make a difference if you have stiff suspension?

strut bars are more for stiffening the chassis rather than the suspension... they will however make the suspension work more being that the chassis is tied together between the strut towers..

it should make the car less snap oversteer happy.. and should also give the car more grip... you'll need to drive with more throttle.

I tried to get the car loose today. The car did feel like it had more front end grip. It was a lot harder to get the rear end to step out too. just figure it was my alignment. I also have removed the DTSS yet either

what's your alignment, wheel/tire sizes and pressures? also what coilovers and spring rates?

Well Im pretty sure my alignment is the main culprit. I just threw on the coilovers and rear toe arms/camber arm and links, then did a driveway alignment

Coilovers are Stance Pro Comp 8k/6k...dampening maxed out @ all 4 corners (first time actually driving the car with these coilovers, just going for a baseline)

265/35/18 federals @35-37 psi 10.5J (just checked...didnt realize the pressure was that low)

I think once I get all this taken care of and find someone to let me use their press to get rid of the DTSS, I think Ill be good.

yeah i'd probably run 45psi (depends on power though) 30 psi front.

also run 0 toe front and 1/4 total toe in rear.. if you can measure it up.

and GET RID OF DTTS!!! haha

^^ this.

Those are pretty big tires to run that pressure. idk what power you have but seems like the best place to start.

it put down 460 rwhp. Last time i checked my tire pressure was 40 psi. I figured the combo of those two, i would be fine

that should definitely be enough power to spin em at that pressure..

Taking my sways off was best/cheapest mod possible. Im at a staggering 225 hp with anywhere from 215 to 245 tires in the rear always at 35 psi. My local track only has one 3rd gear turn, but lots of sharp turns and transitions. Thats where i noticed a huge gain in control and grip.

holy dead thread revival.

so does NO ONE with knuckles run front sway bar? I've noticed my car lacks the snappy transitions I'm used to from my s-chassis since I removed the front. transitions just feel slow/laggy. Is it my setup? I played with side bite (thanks to info JTP shared with TweakGames) last event, but it was pouring rain so I ended up taking off rear spacers and couldn't really compare to before.

BC coilovers 8k/6k
Driftspeed knuckles
Front 17x9.5 +15 with 1.5" spacer
~-5* camber
1/8" toe out
Rear 18x9.5 +15 with 1" spacer
~-2* camber
1/16th toe out
all stock busings except DTSS elim, but I have a box full of pbm goodies to put on before the season begins

otherwise, I was thinking about finding a stock one (threw my old one away) chopping the ends off, making it narrower, and hoping for the best. cause damn that thing really hurts steering angle.

how did you adjust your toe and camber in the rear is its all stock? just by lowering/raising the ride height? I know you can adjust the stock stuff but not very much.
i have never ran modified knuckles with a sway bar. no point as you wont be able to use the angle anyway.
I have to throw my wheel on my fc whareas in my friends s13 it just kinda floats. but I also have a super heavy v8. so I think thats my biggest issue causing it to be slow transitions.

rear camber was adjusted by raising the car (bn aero is plenty low even with 1" wheel gap) from where i had it before i cared about going fast and having grip, then toe to compensate via eccentric bolts.

front camber is on the coilovers, front toe is on the tie rods (super*now with stock ends)

pretty sure my engine isnt the cultprit, sr20det swapped in somewhat stock form as far as weight goes. i drove one event with the knuckles and stock front sway bar, and it felt fine minus the 5-10* of precious angle i was robbed of. once i took the front bar out though the front end/transitioning just felt lazy. car has plenty of grip, i just want snappier transitions lol
