streetport89vert build

i figured id make a quick build thread. i did a lot of stuff not mentioned but im lazy so this is a basic summery of what went down.---

it started out as a s5 streetported n/a vert . outside the car was bone stock white vert. with the exception of the jdm flash to pass lights.
removed the dual rb mufflers sounded nice but very very heavy and subtle lookin. it had a holley 650 single pumper carb that wasnt optimal so bought a new holley 600cc double pumper carb , holley fpr, car came with holley blue fuel pump very loud and anoying , rb intake carb adapter , rb headers , i broke 2 t2 trannies two clutch pivot bolts and one clutch so i installed a s5 jdm t2 tranny and rb unsprung 6puck t2 clutch loud and overkill ,had 2 blaster2 coils , ngk plugs and wires , t2 drivetrain , put in a dash z short shifter , s4 t2 lsd so i shimmed the diff locked 2 way status , tien coilovers fronts are blown scary stuff , removed rear swaybar to eliminate snap back while drifting in transitions , installed rear camber adjuster , rearsteer eliminators, rear cusco strut bar , greddy evo2 muffler, 17" 5 spoke gun metal rims , interior ect,ect,ect...

swapped to microtech lt10s "FUEL INJECTED" fd upper intake mani s5 t2 lower. pics will follow

grabbed some shine aero Spec-1 Full Front Bumper , (R-magic Replica) Sidskirts ,(RE-Amemiya Replica) Rear Aero Guards and its all Hybrid FRP kinda like half rubber and fiberglass super durable and lightweight. spent all day putting it on. it fits real good! alot of stuff behind the front bumper was crushed in like it was wrecked into something before so alot of hammering and remounting went on, it sucked. i made a cool hood for it but ended up selling it.

more pics

pillarpod installed with carbon autolight gauges, boost , oil , and air fuel. this thing was alot more dificult to install than i thought it was gonna be. the heat gun was used alot and since it was a universal pillarpod from autozone it wasnt even close to being right. so with fitting and changing it took almost all day to shape and wire up!!!

mystery fluid in catch can and filler kneck looks like marshmellows. not good. it sounds bridgeported but its not good if its not bridge ported haha. leakin like 4 flats on a cadillac. came out to see an inch of water on my floorboard, both my seats soaked, the inside of the window had more water on it then the deck on a shrimp boat during a storm, and the coolant buzzer was attacking me and i couldnt fix it. i came back after skating and everything was normal hahaha wtf. i needs me a motor soon i think like last year haha

got some ruff work on the efi setup. first off the s5 lower is a 4 port which i forgot about and my na is 6 port so i had some more porting to do which really sucked. also the fd intake is about a quarter inch from the hot wire on the alternator. the dipstick has clearance problems and the oil filler neck was in the way so i tried a t2 neck and it was still too high so i chopped the bottom off my na neck and the top off the t2 neck and welded one up that should work for now. needed some fuel line and an elbow for the fuel rail and it should be going. oh and i forgot that my microtech doesnt have any connectors for anything so thats a bunch of random clips i need to sort out too. heres some pics of what it was lookin like.

clearance issues

new filler neck i only had green to seal it up haha

and the old setup is soo simple but.....austalaveista

i turned the s5 4 port into a 6 port and i think it looks ok and will work until i get my other motor. the intake clears the oil filler neck with ease now and the hot wire on the alternator was moved to the upper position so thats not an issue either anymore. wire loomed some old crappy wires and cleaned some stuff. heres a couple pics.

most of the fuel system done except the pump and regulator. some wiring done too. phone pic of the setup.

its up and running. the throttle cable could be a mile shorter haha all lines except one are steel braded with a simplified fuel rail and an fd fuel pump insted of the walbro 255 it revs quick and even though we didnt have time to fully tune it on the street it runs great and pulls hard. +1 for a rev limiter finally. pullin from second to third it broke loose and tried to drift it really caught me off guard.its gonna take some getting used to since my feet are calibrated for the carb setup im still tryin not to heel toe coming to a stop to keep it running haha now i dont have to.

really clean harness. steve did a great job and had alot of patience. thank you.

ordered a race seal kit for my motor. installed new manual rack with "secret" angle mod haha not spindles or tierods just rack mod. threw a turbo together and shined it up its a hybrid turbonetics main and front and a s4 rear housing. also picked up another sparco seat that matches the drivers seat, made seat rails today, and made a fresh strutbar with engine brace. looks cleaner now.

i got tired of the different style shift ***** ive had on my car rattling loose burning my hand and just plan uncomfortable. so i made my own out of various piping. its weighted so it shifts fast with ease it is solid but hollow so it stays cool and its sturdy. i rubberized it for comfort and grip. it is meant for drifting and its feels awesome. if anybody is interested i can make more to all different weights and lengths for all stickshifts. heres some pics.

got some good driving in today 2 sets of tires the shifter felt awesome. the diff being locked made a major difference with angle it felt like super angle mode i can only imagine having spindles too. steves good tune also felt amazing way more power and i didnt even waist much gas at all. arron was killin it out there in his t2 good times for sure thanks ray and chris and everybody there for being so cool. heres some crappy digicam vids at crappy angles haha. had a vacuum cap pop off causing 2k idle and massive flames. more in drifting video thread.

today i relocated my battery to the passenger side of the trunk. i recently put a cold air intake running over the radiator that looked cool but got heat soaked so after moving the battery i moved the intake back to that side where the battery used to be but further forwards in a better area. traced random wires down and pulled out a lot of amp wires and stuff not being used anymore. i tucked my insanely long throttle cable under the upper manifold, capped some vacuum leaks, and ran some wires cleaner out of sight. ill post pics tomorrow.

i figured id share some random pics of the battery and circuit breakers wires ect.
battery box which is bolted to chassis the strap holds the lid. one breaker behind it.

other breaker on drivers side strut tower.

power block.

throttle cable and a lil wiring tucked.

cold air intake which surprisingly helped alot.

air filter under car hiding behind dollar store zip-tied bumper haha.

thank you what helped me alot drifting the na vert was stiffer suspension, tire pressure 20psi up front and 60psi out back, no rear swaybar makes it less prone to snap back in transitions and a decent diff i have a shimmed s4t2 diff locks hard but a welded will be fine too. the spindles are my design i made them to work with the modified manual rack so i could keep the stock tierods/ends i ended up saving around 500 bucks on the usual supporting mods for power racks without lossing the easy steering.

I've got cheap Godspeed coilovers stiffened all the way up with a Mazdatrix strut bar, I use a welded diff and run 70psi in the rear on a 16x7 with a 17x9.5 up front. My first event was 2 weeks ago and I did ok I suppose. I think I need knuckles, a hydro ebrake and of course MOAR POWA!!! Lol. I want to stay NA if at all possible, looking into getting a street port and running ITBs other than that my NA mods are maxed out. Your suggestions??

Awesome build!

Looks kilter you decided to upgrade the turbo setup, did you ever run the hybrid, or did you decide to just sell it and go full frame?

thank you. i did decide to go full frame and sold my buddy the turbonetics hybrid.

your setup sounds resonable to drift and have fun. spindles are great but i think if you
learn to drift your car to its full potential and angle with low power consistantly when you do get more power and angle your driving style will be better. camber and toe adjustments helped me alot. i liked maxed camber up front slight toe out and zero camber out back with slight toe out. street ported with itb's sounds good
