i seriously liked it! theres a street spot out here, called "the trailer spot" and its an exact replica of balcony almost. its where i learned, so i was having fun there. it was cool when i would link the whole straight, but i kept trying not to cause my car was getting super hot... plus i still keep mis-shifting, and its annoying. im scared im going to blow my tranny...lol

upshifting 3rd on entry was sick. i wish i had the power to be in third to enter way further back where tommy roberts, and justin were entering.

they're just gangster. watching justin link that place was awesome!
kinda like how i drive our street spot. idk why, but its like its my spot, i just get down. i know all the lines, bullshit to aim for there. i wanted to stay for sunday and get the hang of the course a little more but my car was just super sketch. the temps were hot, i broke my diff mount, i killed my only set of tires (seriously didnt want to pay $15 to flip them for 2 runs.... lol)
plus girl dilema back in vegas was tormenting my brain. i seriously loaded up as soon as i blew it, didnt tie my car down, and bombed out, went to the gas station and tied it all down.
by the time i filled up the truck, i had $20 left lol.... no trailer lights. ahhh it was a good *** experience though.
freaking forrest and mike pollard setting me up with fraudulent trailer dealings. hahaha without them though i couldnt have even went. it was cool!

yellow FC dude was busting too! as soon as my car started idling weird i got way over it... lol

i want to come down for ASB. i just hope its running, and i get more dialed in, and more familiar with this setup so i can focus less on what to do, and just drive.

Hehehe, All the Az guys are doing it

Overheating sucks *****. I don't even bother doing day events in the summer. Not only does the car overheat but 110 on track staged is torture.

Imagine, a reliable 300hp+ FC with PS and AC staged!

V8's are cool and all....
but:
theyre expensive. takes away from seat time to build it. they have oil/overheating issues as well.

my car was pulling into george's LSx FC on the straightaway at XDC, although he'd murder me with torque modulating throttle. don't take that the wrong way, because i'm not knocking him, he drives GREAT. thats just my only experience driving against a LSx FC.

i love turbo cars. v8's look too easy. i would buy a 240 if i wanted easy lol.
i love the fight, to get my car to drive, i love being different, and i love doing my own thing. it's more rewarding knowing you can make something slide, and slide well, as opposed to just "controlling" a well built car. maybe it's just me.

maybe one day ill cave, and bite the bullet and get sick of spending money, but i really love the way my FC drives/feels turbo. if i'd ever swap it, it would be to an SR, or 1.5jz. i did see a crazy 4g63 swap but i'm not down for an even more unreliable motor lol.

look at justin, he's been in the game for awhile, his car is legit. it blows motors still, every know and then but after awhile you have spare crap saved up, and its nothing but a thing, and that is where it gets cheaper.
good computer, twin oil coolers, a koyo, maybe run a vmount with a legit hood, and good fans, and i'm sure i wont have issues. my car runs hot, because i daily'd it all winter, and i still had my 170deg T-Stat in, with only 2 holes in it. if i remove it, or get a 160 and drill some holes, and get a front mount, instead of a hotass topmount (lol shitty setup) it should be good to go. i still have a stock setup basically.

my NA (yes NA, but still would get hot as ****.) i didnt have a T-STAT, and i could hot lap any run group i wanted to, and not lift, and it would never see halfway.

i just look at it differently i guess...

drifting is drifting. i'm on course to drive. sure, it sucks you're hot as ****, and wearing a suit, gloves etc, but its drifting.
when you're done, your daily has AC lol.

last night i took off the turbo/manifold. i cutout the twinscroll door all together on a new manifold, and welded a bolt in it, and welded both sides up. turns out the welds failed on the TS door on my first one when it was glowing. (im sucky at welding. trying to learn) so this whole time, my car was spiking to 14psi because under boost it would shut the door and close one side - building boost. thus boosting 14psi and not really going anywhere cause the freaking door was shutting down one side of the twinscroll..... knew i should've cut it out the first time, but thankfully i had spare ****, and did it right this time. welded the inner/outer sides this time, so its cherry.

i ported my turbo twinscroll divider on my new-ish S4 turbo, and now at 6-8 psi (still spikes minimally only to 8psi.) it spins all through 3rd gear, and is much faster than it was at the VD Pro-Am Rd. 1! all on 6-8psi. my RWS super seal kit allows for 30 plus, so i'm going to rebuild a blown t04r we have at the shop, and have forrest weld up a manifold, and get it more safe/powerful instead of pushing this stock turbo to its limits.
tomorrow we're going to aloha, and may swing by the shop after.

mounted my wink mirror (zipties for now) ******* in and out of the cage sucks, i was not feeling mocking up brackets and ****...
fixed my hood cable so it now works and will pass tech (the legit way)
mounted my old aero since i completely destroyed my front bumper hitting a fat *** chunk of missing concrete at balcony trying to link the back section.... the one time i upshift third and it works i go bro trucking offroad and killing my aero lol
so now it looks the part again
need to flip my tires, wire up my deck, and sub/amp for the meet tonight, and then some street samplings.

Dude, just get a S5 turbo. I over-ported my S5 and actually can't boost over 10psi.

I recommend the Izusu NPR FMIC. Here's a pic of mine installed right in front of the radiator.
Small trimming needed, Battery relocate or mini battery.
Have to remove or relocate PS loop and AC condenser if still there.

and sexy *** short and simple cold side piping

I saw NO increase in coolant temps from this and a great drop in AIT.

both him, and heybroitsray got me hooked on that.... even some dude in cali said that when i said something about my car being fraudulent.

update:
work + sleep + working on the car has been killing me.
however, got some free time, and went sampling tonight. i dont condone street driving, nor do i encourage it, but you gotta do what you have to do. (i want to stay competitive, learn my car, and be ready for this next event. lack of money for tires, and entry fees lately has had me kinda stressing.)

if you do go out and street-drift just be safe, know your surroundings, and be ready to pay up if you get rolled, or if you total your car....

having said that:

the spindles are seriously the best things ive ever put on my FC. flipping backwards towards poles, not lifting, smoke billowing into my car reminded me of riding with forrest's crazy ***. i spun one time, and saved it with e-brake, and belted the last of my nexen tires (which i fxcking love now).
i honestly am going to punch myself in the face if i spin with these it's literally impossible!

it was good seeing everyone tonight! i'm psyched the vegas drifting scene is still alive. it was really awesome to go have fun, and inspire some of the up and coming drivers holding it down out there without the headache of competition! tons of great drivers to watch out for in the very near future!

video/incar video to come tomorrow sometime! phil, post some footage!!!! (thank you for filming!) i hope everyone had fun tonight watching/driving!

now it's time to chill out, and fully focus on working off the motor/help with chris, and get the shop some coverage at Vegas Pro-Am Rd. 2 on the 26th. the car is as solid as it ever has been, and now im confident enough in my driving, and the chassis/power plant that i dont need to hold back, and be scared to break things. i've put enough of a beating on this motor that i'm fully confident in the quality of work that steve & chris put into it at area77. now if only i can make a podium to stay in the points race to show them my appreciation!

hahaha badass. ray is probably the funniest person alive... i've known him since middle school, and ****** still has SR'd 240's! lol

hell yea! looking forward to seeing your car! theres some spots out here, but the only "safe from cops" spot is at the shop. it ruins cars though... 3rd gear entry, 2lane road, there used to be 5 poles to merge from, but ray scavenged a few today with his quarter, and our friend jesse totaled his shell into like 2... you'll like it though. i dont have the power for it, but i still try.

Just to throw in my 2c, i would highly recommend a jz engine when you want to go down that route. For me the engine walks all over the 13b in every way. Engine is simpler, way less faults to deal with, less turbo heat, makes more power down low, more power up top, is a lot rev happier (split seconds from idle to redline), loves to rev off the 8k limiter, better fuel consumption, and happy to cruise around at 2krpm or less with the torque it has. I don't notice a difference in handling (if there even is much of a weight difference).

I don't see you breaking a 1/2jz with r154/v160 anytime soon

I went the 1jz vvti route, rear sump, single turbo (exhaust on the correct side) with an excellent powerband. 270rwhp on a stock engine and turbo, 10psi with standalone computer. Not sure about FC's, but you couldn't ask for an easier engine swap into a JC.

JebusFC runs the older 1j in an FC. Both of us will gladly rave about how much better the jz engine has worked out for us. Rotaries do have their good points, but i can see why a lot of jap and nz drift cars are preferring to go the jz route (even the likes of UK's orange driftworks cars).

Definately worth thinking over

Yep. LSX seems to be the answer to everything these days and people tend to overlook the jz motors.

The only bad things i've heard about the jz motors are the height of the 2j and the harmonic balancer tearing apart. Oh, and front mains blowing out/leaking.

However, buckey looks like he wants to stay rotary and doesn't want to screw that feel up. I know exactly what he means about liking the fact you have to work the car. It's not a car you can fall asleep drifting and it makes it alot of fun.

Hey digi, have you seen some of the volvo fmic's? They're HUGE as well. 50 percent of the time you'll find some with plastic end tanks but for a budget you can't beat junkyard fmic's. ****, even a starion intercooler would serve well providing you put it below where the bumper core would sit and route your piping accordingly. The only thing you'd have to do is mod your end tanks.

indeed. they do have their downfalls as well but honestly, if i were to ever swap my car to a different motor setup, i would probably go this route. (unless something fell into my lap) i love the sound. the reliability of toyota motors, and the price/effectiveness of a JZ motor. PLUS the exhaust is on the factory RX7 side, so i dont need to worry about melting my brake/clutch masters.
thank you for your post. every day i do think about how sick that would be,

but for right now, i am with "nopistons!" on this. i've had some pretty good luck with my TurboII motors, especially with area77rotorworks building them the right way, the first time, and i'd like to see how far i can go with this setup. only the future will tell how my car ends up but for now, i'm trying this out.

but yes 1jz, 1.5jz, or a 2jz will be the next thing that goes in when i get discouraged by a rotary.
i tell myself one thing - "one motor per season is fine with me." lol

some pretty cool news as of tonight!

i would personally like to thank Phil, at Garage Tune LLC, for jumping on board, and helping support myself, Area77rotorworks, and euroasian motorworks this season!
both myself, and euroasia/area77 are greatly looking forward to round 2, and i hope i can drive well, to show my support of your great products, and have a good season for the remainder of the year!

stay tuned for some awesome GarageTune Mazda FC RX7 coilovers in the works! also going to be testing out a custom mishimoto V-mount intercooler setup, koyo radiator, flex-a-lite fans, Summit Racing oil cooler lines, and AEM Digital gauges to keep my RX7 running strong and help keep it very competitive for this year.

i'm very pleased to be apart of your company!

went out to practice a few nights ago. better to be in a parking lot, then on the streets, going through traffic lights, like the movies.
