I just read through like 30 pages of this.

Reminds me a lot of my build... except my car is slow as ****, beat to ****, and is worth about 1/20th what this car is worth in expenses, but somehow still very much reminds me of my car.

Probably because I always dump money into it, get little to no results, and recently blew a "rebuilt" motor and had to dig into family members pockets to get it back on the road.

My has about $9,000 into it. I could've probably had a clean semi-built T2 for that price. But instead I've got this slow, ugly, piece of **** of a car

Glad to see other "determined" FC guys! Your build is definitely good inspiration.

We did, but my turbo manifold is designed poorly. The wastegate is so far behind the turbo runners that it barely stabilizes boost. With a 14psi spring we couldnt get it to stay under 26-28psi (and it would still rise)

We did the 5psi spring and just called it. Sr motor cars gave me a ton of dyno time, but the overboosting thing just kinda killed us.

I was hoping 80psi rear pressure and some seat time would have worked but it was still too grippy... 3rd gear was bog central lolz
I was too busy getting the car to pass tech and stop spraying oil all morning i only drove the 2 qual laps... Lol and the first one i was trying to grip the course fast to see how it was going to be and the hood flew up :]

It was still a rad day though. Felt so good just being in the car again though and trying

What manifold do you have? Do you have a boost controller?

I have the avcr solenoid tied into the ps2000. That only works so well when the manifold doesn flow pressure to the wastegate though.

The manifold is just a cheapo ebay unit i modified to fit my old gt35/40 to the fc motor. I could probably get by with shortening the wastegate runners, but i need to replace the turbo for sure

Whats wrong with the turbo?

Just hack the old wg runners off and give it better angle and less pipe... kinda like how most women like it..;-)

Also check inside the waste gate runners. Some of those ebay one had like a 3/4 to 1" hole inside the runner. They where to lazy to match it to the waste gate runner size. There was a post somewhere where some one cut on open so you could see it.

It was a tough course for sure. I tried to run 30psi on the rear so I could keep up with my garbage-pile 225s. Didn't work

What was spraying oil? Cracked engine parts again?

You were murdering it though! Glad it worked out for ya, and the oil filler neck was spraying. We thought it was the catch can, then the cap didnt have an oring - but i screwed up and used the more narrow FC oil neck on the FD motor and there was a pinhole gap i didnt seal that would just spray everywhere.

Thought it was motor honestly but nope its still cherry. Theres really no reason my motor should blow for another few years unless we do push it and crack an iron. Even then its only $150 and about 2hrs to redo. turbos on the other hand.... Lol

Lol ^^^

As for the turbo it was just a cheapo china setup i got from a friend. Didnt want to wait to drive any longer. Honestly thought it would have lasted a little more than some dyno runs and a lap drifting lol but nope.

The only sketchy parts on the car now really are just the turbo, and the manifold...

I may try to do what you mentioned to the manifold. Only reason why im hesitant is because it is just soooo shitty... Ive welded it like 20times... It just cracks. Me and a buddy were talking yesterday about ordering a head flange and some piping and make one ourselves. Its either that or $700+ almost anywhere and im trying to do top drift in a few weeks so all the pennies i dont spend on parts will help for gas/entry fees

Hmmm... That is a possibility i didnt even think about.
Good call!

It used to be solid with the fc motor and the gt35/40 with a single 50mm hks gate. But it would spike like 2-4psi in 3rd and 4th gear

^ yea thats a pain. 3 weeks will fly by too.. there's some guys on the forum who ordered a e-bay mani that looks pretty decent. also check out JBF's build thread. He's using an ebay manifold too..but I think a rep seller makes it. Otherwise..just keep it the way itis..and run225's haha fix it later

Oh good.

I feel like making a manifold wouldn't be incredibly difficult if you aren't trying to match runner length too closely. If you end up doing that, post pics! I'm interested.

Get a DOC race mani. Im going to be running one on my FC. You can ask the owner if hes got any used ones.

Said they would "sponsor me" a manifold for $$500-700
Ive come to terms that making one is going to be the best. I know where i wanted the turbo placed, and its next to impossible to **** up a twinscroll mani with only 2 runners....

As for other news we just got done shooting the Import Tuner Mag shoot. Car managed to catch on fire for a solid 2-3mins in the middle of nowhere. Still having issues with all of these fuel rails either flexing or contorting as the motor hits rev limit. Basically was spraying fuel somewhere and as soon as the wastegate opened i had flames over under and into the cabin.. Was pretty nuts and luckily nothing was seriously damaged.
Unfortunately for me this killed the majority of what we were planning on doing for the shoot...
