Buckey's Pro-Am Build: '87 Mazda RX7 TurboII
Thnx dudes. Its just sitting. Waiting to order a haltech still. Keep going back and forth if im gonna use this aem or not but i dont want to pay $1k ontop of the $4k i wasnt supposed to be paying to begin with with this setup... Super frustrated with this year.
Someone buy my other turboII!!!
Someone buy my other turboII!!!
So why spend that money again for an ecu that drops maps, cant datalog, and cant utilize digital dashes?
I've spent over $800 in Defi gauges... Why not spend $800 (or a little more) on a logger racepak and $1500 on a ps1k and get this **** over with once and for all to never have to deal with this again??? I dont need another e6k to waste all my money
Thats finally where im at now.. No more used ecus for me. I owe too much on this setup to blow it up over something stupid. I just want this to be the last time the setup is changing so i can get into my car and drive it and when something breaks not have to consider the whole "well its $400 to replace this or $550 to upgrade to this that is way better" mind set anymore. I want it to be a break/replace to the same item season this year so the car doesnt change.
This... Statement of the year right here. This is why I bought a PS2000 and made my own harness with full GM sensors and coils and will be using a digital dash.

Found a few killer deals on Haltechs. Really hoping someone buys my daily so i can get this show on the road.
Looked at a few shops also, and the one im wanting should be open in a few days. Fingers crossed. Would be dope to get out of the place where im at now. No more diff swaps at my apt in this thing lol
No offense but just because someone can make 600 whp on an older platform doesnt make them a good tuner. And i've truly learned that HP numbers mean nothing if the tune blows.. I stick with tried and tru tuners who have been around the block. A good tune and 350-450whp is fun and can be reliable

I need to buy defis cause i sold those in my 240 when i let it go. So if i buy gaues again im buying something good. Like defi again. Thats an easy $1000 in just the basic gauges... Im opting to spend a little more and get a racepak which makes way more sense. Getting the sensors to have the ecu control everything. No more bare essentials... Racepak seems the best for the money. I could get a stack - but thats more money i dont need to spend initially.
Haltech PS1k, racepak, hop back in and drive and figure out how to not be a washed up little girl is in full effect.
Buckey, my buddy is going v8 and is selling his ps1k. S5 patch harness and the haltech w/ gm iat used for literally 2 months. He's asking 1500. I can throw my tune on it if you'd need a base. Lookin out for ya bro. Pm me if you're interested.
@bewst i appreciate it homie! I just dont have the cash flow... I ended up getting hit up on a trade for my white fc for a 240 with $2k more in parts so i grabbed that to tidy up and flip when its finished... Kinda prolonging this build but made money on my initial investment so i cant really cry too much..
Once the 240 sells tho it's on...

Got a spread sheet together so far for everything i need to finish this thing... Looking at $4,340 just for engine management, dash, finishing the fuel cell, Power steering setup, and not including tuning....
Planning to buy:
Haltech PS1000/harness
Haltech Basic Racepak (cant afford the logger)
Boost solenoid, integrated wideband, IAT/water temp, map
LS2 coils
1600cc e85 primaries to go with my 2300cc Secondaries.
Bosch 044, fuel cell, swirl pot/cooler (same price as basic surge tank but with a casing around it for dry ice)
Have to purchase another PS pump wheni get the funds together, order the pulleys still.. Plumb the lines to reservoir, cooler, and the rack... Then have to source a spare pump, and rack.
One thing i'm curious on - i've already plumbed my fuel system to the motor, and return/FPR with stainless braided feed lines, and black braided aeroquip return lines. My dilema now is a few people have said that the inner liner isn't compatible with e85.... Any truth to this? Is it only if i store the car with fuel in the lines? Or is it safe? I really wouldnt think everyone who runs e85 has this to deal with in AN lines.

Hey Buckey, I was looking through the features the PS1000 provides on Haltech's website, and I am currently getting an AEM EMS-4 going in my car, and I must say, I would honestly recommend you take a look at it.
From what I can tell, it has all the features the Haltech has w/o the wideband controller and ability to connect to a Racepack. But it can data stream so it can be a possiblity, just one I haven't looked at since I'll be using the stock cluster for RPM, oil press, ect.
I think the AEM also has more options available for GPIO's since the Haltech seems to only provide 8-9 and it looks like some of those have to be used up for engine control vitals, such as Coolant Temp, CAS, IAT.
Take a look at the thread we've been working on here on 7Club. I honestly have never messed with standalone units but the AEM software and overall system design makes it simple for even a novice like me.
