Yes I know its a corolla but it is in the process of a 13b-rew swap. Skirts will be white and front and rear will be black or the whole kit might go white

The white is Toyota Alpine White with heavy blue pearl whole car lights up blue in certain lights

lol, knew this one was coming. I wanted the car to be different if you look the car in person looks a helluva lot better then pictures

I wanted two tone but I didn't want Panda, Corolla body lines make it difficult to go two tone without going the Panda route.

There is a guy that has a red hatch that did a paint job like this but it was because his car was unfinished and put together quickly for a drift event. I kinda liked the look and expanded on it

His car for reference

Ya, working in the bodyshop as long as it remains in 1 piece it will probably be pained several new colours in its lifetime. This was my first complete paintjob not perfect but it could have been alot worse

Even after its setup? I do have a couple of dry spray spots down at the bottem of the doors...will that help?

I used waterbourne basecoat but the clear is still solvent.

I saw an S-chassis here in PDX that had a similar hood print last year.

he said they were nissan only...

I think it was a limited run from either Origin or D-Max.

I'd kill for a hood like that for my FD

seriously.

KILL!

You'd cause so much traffic accidents with people staring at that hood. Best most awesomer hood ever that it's over. That hood HAS a hood! Haha.

Why have baller wheels to walk around dick in hand? Just do it anyway. People dig that ****.

It's just no the same, those LP hoods are manufactred with those graphics under the clear coat. (it's not an add on like a wrap would be)

That's the whole appeal of those hoods (that they were an extremely limited production)

Those we're Origin Lab hoods.
Limited to like 10. None in US though, and its not a vinyl overlay.
Its printed and cleared for the lasting effect.

There is or was one of those hoods here locally, maybe it was purchased second hand.

Not sure though.

But it definately was under tge clear coat.

I talked to the guy, he said basically the same thing you just said.

Fir that very reason, I choose not to simply throw a wrap on my hood.

Until: I get a local strip club to sponsor me, then I'll get something similar with some of the dancers. This has been a plan for quite a while.

you want crazy hood graphics with clear? find a REALLY good airbrush guy. probably pay about the same as those nissan hoods cost.lol. Some guys can do some really realistic designs but others may fail hard SO thats the chance you take.

also, If you use GOOD printing vinyl for graphics then it could last 5+ years without color fade. depends how much time it sits in the sun. might not be as glossy but who really cares, this is the drifting section. not like they're show cars.lol. ( I would not drift with one of those "limited edition" show off nissan hoods). people probably be stealing hoods like those too, not that hard to do in the night on a car not garaged if you know whats up.

slidealliance is on it with the info. i need to try that sometime. i usually over reduce paints slightly to get it to lay like glass (single stage ****) but never tried it with clear, although i've never really sprayed too many cars.. just kinda starting, and learning everything by trial and error.
Prepping/painting is the only thing i really have patience for car wise during builds... it always has the most impact on the overall appearance. everytime i try to fab something up i catch myself cutting corners and being lazy which isnt a good first step to putting out quality work.
probably have the patience from my dad always making me prep cars, so he could just spray them... plus he's picky so i'd end up always doing **** over and over and over when i was learning until finally i started doing it all right, and he would never notice any flaws. lol

No offense, but your still not getting it.

The face that these hood are a limited production item is what makes them exceptionally valuable and sought after.

I don't want to try to copy that, instead I rather find another way to stand out (not that that really matters)

in all actuality, the idea is a novelty at best, and is only so cool because of the shock value.

thanks for your recommendation though.

As I posted earlier, I met these guys at SEMA a few years ago then checked out thier site. TONS of good info on DIY from real pro guys and from guys who do it in thier backyard. They even go into which cheap "one job" guns to buy and which to avoid.

no offense taken, sorry if my post seemed like it had some attitude, didn't mean it to.

ya, anything limited edition status is crazy price jumped. that first hood posted would be a little much for the streets I would think too.

My friend has a starting-out vinyl business and I have been learning a **** load from him. he only has a cutter and not a printer but he is saving up, printers are expensive. I definitely saw a difference between the cheap vinyl and the more expensive kind so if anyone goes that route, pay up and get the good stuff.

on another note, whats the difference look-wise between single stage paint and laying down clear over the other stuff? anything or just the difficulty/time involved?
