WHY CLOSE THREADS about God?

So was this thread taking up too much bandwidth? And IB couldn't find any sponsors for the top and bottom of the pages?

I just don't see why this was closed. Everyone was being civil (for this lounge) and there was actually some somewhat thought provoking and insightful voices being heard... from both sides, or all three or four sides.

People where posting sources, and most weren't blogs. I dont get this forum lately...
It could've at worst, gone to DoO at the level it was at... but locked...?

IB has nothing to do with it. The moderator that closed it left a reason.

attacking the board or board owners won't help your cause, or get you a reason.

Stick a fork in it guys
well that's the most profound reasoning I've heard all day...

WOW... take a joke. There was a post a couple posts above

Internet Brands hates God.
To which I was using sarcasm to respond with.

Sometimes it's better for mods to moderate rather than post.

Always better for a member to think before they post. More times than not; that doesn't happen.

But I suspect that the real reason was because Mark got in there and started flaming, on top of all the crap in that thread. If you can't have a civil discussion, you can't have a discussion.

I always think before I post but that doesn't always stop me from throwing gas on an open flame. This forum reminds me of some Republican talk show hosts that seem to have an extreme fear of free speech. Nothing like hearing someone support the burning of our flag as free speech but wants that person charged with arson.

It was closed because thread starter was a troll trolling for a flame war.

and therein lies a problem.

I don't know, I hate both republicans equally as much as democrats (and most other party systems) but that is another thread.

But as I said earlier (and a little different from the Republican Talk show hosts you suggest)... If you can't have a civil discussion, sorry, but then you can't have a discussion.

there is no shortage of free speech, but how much of it is backed by fact or logic?

Not sure Burning and Speaking are the same thing... LOL

It was closed because thread starter was a troll trolling for a flame war.
Didn't you have an opposing oppinion as the OP of that thread? Is it because he had a different POV than you say he was trolling and flaming?

I didn't close the thread.

I don't think that I posted in the thread, as the title didn't even interest me enough to read it.

Chances are I wouldn't have ever read even one page in it (unless someone reported it or there was an issue in it that a member brought to my attention).

However, I did read the last page, after you started whinning that it was closed, and saw the flaming and poor attitude that justified the moderator closing the thread. You must have missed the last page, when you said it was a civil discussion as clearly the last page was not.

So I have no idea weither or not the OP has the same or a different opinion than me on anything even in the thread. It wouldn't matter anyway.

Ice, I wasnt saying you had a DoO. I didnt think you posted in that thread anyway. I was saying addressing Wattz, and I thought I quoted him in my reply.

There were a few pages in the middle that weren't that bad, but you are right, the last page was cluttered...

With that being said and being on this forum for a couple years, I've seen much worse. There are probobaly many more ongoing threads with similar "Flamability"

My bad. I guess if YZF wasn't getting dominated so hard in the DoO constantly he wouldn't have to resort to personal attacks and slander to try and get his point across.

But please don't close the thread if it was because he was attacking me. I can handle myself.

That's the third time you called me a troll, and you never answer the question about your avatar. Anybody else think I'm a "troll"? Of course, all you real trolls will raise your hands.

The thread was 20% objectionable content and 80% pure crap. The thread was created as flame-bait from the word go and you guys took it hook, line and sinker.

The fact that the thread stayed open as long as it did was remarkable in itself.

Let it go, there will be more ridiculous threads in the lounge coming soon to pacify your wicked desires.

@ OP , i was wondering the same thing. hmmm really it wasnt a bad thread, ppl have different opinions and beliefs, understandable, ive seen plenty of threads that youd think should have been closed but werent. the OP of that recent thread meant no harm in his testimony. ppl just love to bash you if you believe in God.

Once I stopped going out 3-4 times a week and stopped the all weekend partying my life did a 180, and I dont go to church.

I am glad that you are directing your energy on something good though. All hail jesus.

at a certain point it was just all over the place, hardly a reason to close it.

something in there a mod did not like, I think it was more of a personal thing.

That may be your opinion, but as the person who closed it I will tell you it was wrong. I'd reopen it only on the condition there is no more pointless flaming in the thread. However I bet you guys can't go more than 10 mins without bringing out the torches.

your probably right, but go ahead and open it back up anyway. I'd say 45% of ALL these threads here include flamebait, trolls, incorrect/misleading info... yet they all go on.

Thanks for explaining why it was closed.

flaming goes on all the time, lack of respect, de-railing topics.

I feel if you post on a public forum in a section that is known for a bunch of clowns hanging around you open yourself up to it.

not that its right or wrong- it just seems to be the way it is

I understand why you stuck a fork in it. It sucks though that the closing seems more like an indictment of me or of the subject matter than of the fucktards like wOOt who posted pictures depicting Jesus as a molester or as as someone suggesting they kill a black man. Then you get the predictable posts like "w00t just won this threadz" and all that ****. I'm fine with people telling me they think I'm delusional or with Raptor Jesus or Jesus riding raptors, a those sorts of objection or comments lead to worthwile discussion. But seriously, those pics w00t posted should earn his *** a ban for life.
