- No Dealers in the classified sections. A dealer is defined as anyone who is selling more than 2 of the same product, or who repeatedly has items for sale.

more than 2 at the same time? i dont do that so i am good there.

define repeatedly...is one big thread ok?

again, not trying to be difficult. i havent had a problem in the past 7 years so i am just trying to get a good idea of what i am doing wrong.

I have asked repeatedly for concise definitions of "dealers" or "vendors" or "advertising" in this thread and elsewhere and as you can see it only gets answers like "the rules have always been here, just read them and it will become clear" which offer no help.

Yikes!

OK.. here is my 2 cents..

1. Do mods get paid by the owners of this site?? I ask this because if they are making money, I think Mods should get paid.. Otherwise, you guys are enforcing rules and spending your time for FREE.. If you are not getting paid.. I think some of these older members (signed up back when) a break!

2. Other bigger issues on the FS section.. I tell ya.. I been on this forum for years and bought and sold thousands and thousands worth of parts.. People like DJseven is a honest seller who we all trust. Banning them from FS section will only harm the community while those who cheat and steal are welcome to come on without 0 restriction to sell... I think thats a bigger problem than veterans of this forum trying to sell..

3. I could foresee the future... I could tell you whats going to happen in the future.. More idiots on the forum, more restriction for vets, more scammers, someone will start a new forum to avoid all the BS. One of the main reason I got on this forum before was for the community but also to buy and sell parts. Anyone who modifies their car will buy and sell sooner or later and if there is a very strict or problems on the forum, they will go somewhere else...

Anyhow, I hope all gets resolved.. I had my ups and downs on this forum and hope it gets better than worse..

No, thats stupid. I am not going to pay for a FS ad when im not making any money off the item thats forsale. I never thought this forum would cost me X amount of dollars per month to make a FS ad. I guess things change.

this would one keep the thread post to a minimum.also this would be kinda like what ebay does .so say like 50cent for each f.s. thread.really who cant afford 50cent -75cent a thread?

im just trying to throw out some ideas.and what they could do on here is just bill you monthy on what ya post up as far as thread starters.NOT WTB threads

You want them to charge you for sale posts when u get 30-50 people max looking at it or you can post on ebay for 2.00 and get hundreds of hits in a week.

not only that but having them charge you monthly means that they would have to have your dredit card number... NO THX if they want money from me I can pay them via paypal over a secure line and I will pay as I go... but lets be honest .50 cents a f.s thread sounds nice but in the long run what is this honeslty acheiving.... nothing..

No mod to my knowledge is getting paid... there are discussions in progress about the definitions and considerations made regarding various types of sellers vs. vendors.

Once everyone is back on board after the holidays we can get some better answers for you... so everyone take a few dayus and enjoy them with your families... this will all get figured out one way or another.

Thanks,

I have been here for over 4 years and started out as a newbie just like most of us. Once I met a couple of people and got lots of help here on the forum, I decided to start working on people's cars and helping them out by selling some of my used parts. I got better and decided to open up a shop with a couple of friends, including Dave (guitarjunkie28). I then started selling more parts, offering services and put up a banner in my sig. Everything was well for the past 4 years up until the past couple of months, when I started getting in trouble for posting FS threads in the classifieds section.

I was told that I cannot sell more than 2 of the same items, or offer services without paying vendor fees. I was warned first and told to email the admin, which I did but never got a response. One day all of my FS threads were removed and I was PM'ed by the vendor mod. He told me he had already warned me and he was told to remove all of my FS threads. This upset me because I was selling parts off of my own personal car and a bunch of used parts I had laying around. Just like any other person in the classifieds section. I was not offering more than 2 of the same products or offering my services. I was posting not as a business owner or vendor, but as a regular rx7 club member trying to offer my parts to other members.

When Internet Brands finally emailed me back I was told I had to pay $700 for being a vendor. I thought it was an unfair price, because it's not like I am advertising big time like the big companies. I just offer used parts, sometimes new parts and services every once in a while. And I agree with what some of you are saying about having some small posting fees per thread. I also noticed there were a lot of other members who were vendors/service providers who were still posting the same stuff I was without paying the fees or getting in trouble.

That's all I can think of for now. Merry Christmas everyone.

I just got back home and found this thread! Wow.

I have been selling on the forum for several years. I have never had a problem with selling up until about 4-5 months ago when I was contacted by Ryan Scott about becoming a vendor. I replied with my stance on becoming a vendor and made an alternative solution that still had me paying for the service but not at his requested amount. I never heard back from him. A few weeks after that, I get a email from Rx7doctor concerning the same subject. Well, the same solution was presented to him as well and the only response that I received later down the road was that they were working on a solution.

I think that this forum has received a lot of attention by most anyone with an Rx7 that is on the internet. The new owner is just like any other business, out to make a buck. Unfortunately, this forum has always been free except for the key 'big money' fulltime vendors.

My suggestion would be if there has to be some sort of charge for posting, then there should be a nominal fee per posting. Each listing would expire after a preset amount of time and there would only be a certain amount of 'bumps' done by the original poster. This would reflect the way that the www.thepartstrader.com used to do. I also believe that in order to post within the classifieds, that your information be registered with the forum. This would eliminate all of the spammers and con artists from ripping people off on the forum.

Also, if there is going to be a charge for this service, first and for most the site will need a restructure in the administration. This **** about everyone is a moderator and edits people threads/ signatures at will should be put to a stop. This only causes issue after issue with the members.

Just my .04

Wait I was wrong it was $799.

This is the email I got.

Hello,

Thanks for your inquiry about vendor ownership. This is available through by purchasing the Platinum Pkg which is $799 plus $150 for ownership , this gives you :

Run of site banner
Forum sponsorship
Forum posting privileges
Link Signature

I hope this helps. I look forward to hearing from you.

and cmanns, please don't post here if you are not going to give any useful feedback or comments that might help our problem. no whoring!

The links in my signature do not affiliate themselves with anything rotary related aka if someone on this site clicked them rx7club.com wouldn't loose traffic. Simply beneficial links to people here.

Was your link rx7/rotary related? Then someone thought it was competition of some sort I'd assume...

lilred, that email is SOOO business like, jesus christ 800 bucks amonth...

I've been around since November 2002 and I've enjoyed the wealth of knowledge here. Without the RX-7 Club I would have never bought an RX-7. Many times when I have had issues with my 7, the community has helped me.

I personally haven't had any issues with listing items for sale. But I do have a problem when reputable sellers with used parts in good condition can't list their items. I have purchased many used parts here and with a lack of sellers, I see the potential to make finding parts harder AND more expensive.

Like others have mentioned, why don't we have a membership fee? We have 105,291 members. If you were to charge a $5 annual registration fee for every member, you would receive $526,455. I imagine that money would definitely cover operating costs. Unfortunately most of the registered users aren't active. Even if we have 1,000 active members, there would be a $5,000 income. $5 sounds better than $799. The idea of charging listing fees is just plain stupid. If members have to pay a listing fee here, we might as well go to eBay.

Just trying to throw ideas out there. I know you guys are working on it and thank you for revamping the website. I have noticed the site has been more reliable lately with less down time and the search function is much better.
