Who is the administrative contact for this forum now?
I need email and/or phone information for whoever is the new administrative contact for the forum since the ownership change. The person in charge of forum policies and so forth.
There are some funny things going on (not technical issues but policy issues) around here as of late and it seems they are trying to run some people off or at least make them less welcome. I think it's time a few of us longtime members got together and fired off a few messages. Certain mods have said "don't shoot the messenger" so I want to know who they are taking these orders from and talk directly to them.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I can't access my most recent WTB and FS threads, which, to my knowledge, follow the rules of the classified forum. I was given no warning that they would be moved, deleted, or that my permission to access them would be revoked, but it's really aggravating, especially since I don't know why it's happened.

You and a lot of people, including some paying advertisers. It seems this site was converted into a subscription site while we slept, and one particular moderator is in charge of notifying individual offenders and enforcing against them.
If that's the case then he's only doing half his job, as I haven't received any notification... And idk when that started. I know one mod has been trying to crack down about the rules in the classified section, but for the most part it seems he'd been giving warnings before screwing with people's threads/access privileges. If I had to guess, my particular situation wouldn't be his fault, but there's no way for me to know.

Also anyone who has had action taken against their account (editing signature or avatar text, closing of threads) related to "advertising", buying, and selling on the forum and wishes to be included in a group effort/correspondence with the forum administration please contact me. I dont really expect any good to come from it, but I feel it worthwhile to try.

IT's called an apparent change that goes against the spirit of the forum as it has been for the last 6 or so years. A lot of people have been around here for years and have given an immeasureable amount of FREE help to others who came to this site. IN effect we attracted new users here which then generated a larger cashcow for the owners.
Then as things moved on some of us who were in it for the CARS and COMMUNITY first, began small parts sales etc. as a result of being around these cars so long, versus simply starting a business solely to make money like some others may have. This was also technically a service to the forum, because if you wanted a part you could come here and get it easier than ebay or the junkyard. This has been allowed for the most part up until the past 6 months.
Now we are being told that we cannot stay in our current capacity so we must either revert to being question-asking and question-answering members ONLY, or must pay a hefty fee if we want to do ANY business here. And in fact, at least 2 PAYING ADVERTISERS that I know of have also had their use restricted for poorly explained reasons. Needless to say they are not happy.

The contact for advertising is autoadvertiser@internetbrands.com
If you are unhappy with your current advertising rates, or you have been getting free advertising for the last year as very little enforcement has been done until recently, you would want to contact autoadvertiser@internetbrands.com for the current rates.
And no moderator, or admin, or owner has made any changes that are not part of the TOS for this board since day one. Simple enforcement of those rules has started again, and there are no attempts to run people or companies off.
In addition, there are many vendors that have been advertising here for free for the last 7 months, long after their contract has expired. Many of these have refused to even reply to inquires about if they would like to re-new their advertising. While none have been formally removed, many have been contacted and if they refuse to either pay, or even return the contact, they may loose their free advertising that they have been taking advantage of here.

it sure as heck seems like it. I have had more than 10 users contact me (I suppose because I have been here selling for a long time) regarding the sudden policy change with respect to buying and selling on this forum, signature and post editing and deletion, etc.
IF you all are being handed down orders to hunt down the "advertisers" on the forum, then that definition needs to be more clearly stated. Such as "if you post more than 3 parts FS threads per month or have more than 2 threads going at one time, then contact us for advertising". Rather than just picking and choosing the people you think are "advertising" while letting tens of equivalent FS threads continue just because they are from less known users who don't strike you as "advertising".

Kevin,
The below rules are not new but existing rules.
No Dealers in the classified sections. A dealer is defined as anyone who is selling more than 2 of the same product, or who repeatedly has items for sale.
The members that are being contacted are the ones that we see advertising on a "Regular" basis and that have had ads running constantly throughout the year. That's all you have to do is go to a members profile and click on their threads to view how much advertising they have and had done.
5. Banners or information linking to vendor sites ARE NOT ALLOWED in signatures unless the vendor being listed is a paying site vendor.
6. Signature and avatar content is subject to the same rules as forum posts. As a rule of thumb, if we won't allow it in a thread, it's not allowed in a signature. Moderators reserve the right to edit or remove any signature, avatar, or avatar caption as we deem necessary.
Since this section has been renamed "Comments..."
I was surprised SpeedofLife had his threads moved (to the Mods section I assume?), but it looks like they popped back up now.
I've seen quite a few posts disappear...some of them mine.
For example, I was commenting in the MoTeC thread in this particular section, and although it was slightly off-topic, I just wanted to make sure my reply was a positive and not a negative.
My reply was duly deleted...dunno why.
No explanation, just POOF...
I wish we could get rid of all the (unnecessary) bumps in the For Sale sections, like how bumps are banned in the 2nd gen tech sections.
There's a lot of crap and some sellers are just unreasonable for asking prices...
Some of these posts are just being being bumped by the seller with little or no response from other people - I wish these people would get a clue!
Sometime I wish it was like eBay where (for sale) listings would run for a set amount of time and then END.
Sellers would have an option to relist, but unnecessary bumping would prevent people trying to push their ****.
At least Rotary Resurrection posts items for sale with REASONABLE prices, and it's not trash.
I would rather see his for-sale posts then some of the crap that people think they can sell in there!
I mean, granted, it's breaking the "2 identical items" rule, but I would hope the mods would have the choice to let it slide?
Rotary Resurrection offers a helpful service by selling all the items he doesn't need on here - it's not like he's making a LOT of money doing that.
Most of his stuff gets sold for very reasonable prices very quickly...

Let me say it again just because it seems not to have been addressed the first time:
IF you all are being handed down orders to hunt down the "advertisers" on the forum, then that definition needs to be more clearly stated. Such as "if you post more than 3 parts FS threads per month or have more than 2 threads going at one time, then contact us for advertising". Rather than just picking and choosing the people you think are "advertising" while letting tens of equivalent FS threads continue just because they are from less known users who don't strike you as "advertising".
Subjective definitions (i.e. opinions) are not particularly useful or fair for enforcement of rules or laws. This is why speed limits on roads are given a numerical definition so that everyone knows where they stand up front and can then choose to comply or not.
You guys saying "no advertising" to some of the senior members of the forum, yet allowing individuals to post their items, is kinda like limiting semi trucks on the interstate to 35mph while letting all the cars run 85.
Or more accurately, you are making us "guess" at what does and does not constitute "advertising" versus what is allowed for individuals making classified posts.
So, those of us who have been around for years helping the rotary community are getting penalized, while newer individual members parting out cars are able to post with impunity.
Around here we have a saying for this...back asswards.
As for your comment about links and ads being against the rules except for paying vendors, I know of a couple who ARE paying vendors and have had their use restricted for poorly explained reasons. IF they are behind on their payments then so be it, but that does not appear to be the case. I know I'd be pissed off like a mother if I actually SPONSORED THE CLASSIFIEDS SECTION yet I was told that I was NOT ALLOWED TO POST IN THE CLASSIFIEDS SECTION.

Doesnt look like much has changed around here from the past ownership. One of the paying sponsors has been waiting 2 days on a reply to his email as to how to straighten this situation out so he can post in the classifieds again, and no one has seen fit to respond.
Why the **** are they bitching so much about people not paying if they won't respond so they can get more money?
They seem quick to tell you what you can't do, but not too quick to tell you exactly what needs to be done to resolve it.

It really irritates me when someone posts 10 for sale threads with each individual item for sale in each one, often bumping them ALL at the same time. I would hope those threads get deleted. As far as someone parting out a car I don't see how that would be against forum rules as this is how most of us are able to get money back to get these cars running again. If someone was selling hundreds of parts each month i could see how this might cause a problem but i haven't come across any users that have been doing this in the classifieds sections since I've been here (3.5 years).

Well kevin, it looks like your in luck
Im farily certian that you very, very rarely sell a product (misc parts that you are trying to get rid of), you generaly just provide a service. I dont see anything in there about selling a service.
Also, I guess you will just have to mention http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/ before you sig, as i have just done for now on.

2. NO FREE ADVERTISING WILL BE ALLOWED!!! If you have a product you wish to promote to the RX-7 community, then you MUST purchase advertising on this site. This includes even if the product/service you're wanting to post is "just so you (or a friend) can help out members." You can be SURE that SOMEONE is making money, and to do that via our sites IS NEVER FREE. Sorry.
