Where'd my edit button go?
Is it me, or did the edit button dissapear?
That has great idea written all over it.
EDIT: So now it's here. WTF? Is there now a time limit on edits?

I'm guessing that it's based on whether anyone else has read that post/visited that page between the original post and the editing? If no one's seen it, it won't say it's been edited, but if someone has, it will show the message, even within seconds of the original post? Am I right?

I "lost" my emissions....
a way to edit our own titles after 30 mins.
we can edit the bodys of threads and the actual thread titles? when ever, so for tech, we could change it if the problem is fixed or if we misspell it. and in the for sale section, we can post sold once it is.
seems easy enough to change. just let us do so in more than 30 mins

bad idea--particularly in the for sale sections. A post becomes public record, and if a scammer could edit whenever he wanted, he could keep changing his original post and the scams could be covered up that way. I say keep it like it is, for just that reason

I agree. Mods are always willing to correct posts whenever the person needs it done. That way, as stated above, situations like a seller trying to rip people off won't be as easy.

not all sections HAVE to have the edit button to self moderate your post. within the admin pannel, there are functions that allow WHICH parts of the forum you can edit your posts on. so you can have all sections with the edit button, but not the for-sale sections or whichever other sections..
i like the "forever edit" button idea.

Edit My Own Posts: No Time Limit!
Hi,
Like the title says, I really think you should make it possible to edit each person's own post w/out there being a time restriction. In almost every other forum I've visited this is the case.
I think this would be MOST beneficial for the F/S section of this forum. I HATE having to create new threads constantly because they get so cluttered and most people don't want to read through the posts to see the updates and exactly what's still available and what's sold. It would make things MUCH MUCH simpler if everyone was able to update their original F/S post. Less hassle, and less multiple threads.
Maybe, there's something that could be done about this?
Thanks,
Rizwan

i dont agree with this. im currently in a battle with a mamber for money back on a product. everything he has posted in the thread is good solid evidence to get me what is due. if he could edit it at any time he could elimate statements he has made and make my case harder.

Ahh, I didn't consider that. You're definitely right. I would much rather posts stay as-is IF I ever needed evidence in a case similar to yours. I guess the benefits don't outweigh the negatives in this case.
I wonder how this works out for other forums then??? I know for a fact that a few other forums allow users to edit their post, much like the privilege that is granted to mods/admins/sponsors.
Also wondering how a scamming situation would workout for sponsors??? If they tried to duck-and-run and since they have access to all their posts, wouldn't this create a LOT of opportunity for trouble?? Just wonderin'........

least add it to that gigantic pile of posts you'd like to call a thread in the 2nd Gen forum so we can at least index that thing, cause I'm pretty sure alot of us would agree it's useless as it is.

Post editing
I would really like to be able to edit my own post that way I can update my forsale threads with out re-posting a new thread or having the update in the second page of posts..... it aggrivates me because I am so used to it with other sites. I really believe it would help relieve clutter from the forsale forums.

I second this.
It is very difficult to follow some threads; like for sale and meets and events, because you have to scroll through the entire thread and read everything. Which no one does. They just end up cluttering a thread with their question that was answered (ex) in the thread update on the bottom of page 6. I can't tell you how many PM's I got on the address of a recent meet that I worked with. The ability to edit and update would cut down on PM's too. Please consider this. Thanks.
Good post mazdaenthused.

I too would LOVE to be able to edit my own replies and threads once I start making some more. Honestly, why dooesn't this forum have an edit function for posts?
Its weird but I have just realised I can edit this post in the Suggestions section but why cant I edit the following post I made earlier today?

This function is not allowed after 30 minutes.
This was due to the fact that individuals in the past have abused the function.
We do this for the protection of our members, so words can't be taken back/mysteriously disappear.
