Unhappy Extremely slow page loads?

Is anyone else experiencing very very slow page loads from the forums?

Since last night, I've been seeing page load times of upwards of 30 to 45 seconds, after the page header loads (which can add another 10 or more seconds).

I know it's not local to me, as it is consistently slow across four different computers on two different networks, in two completely different cities, with two different service providers, and other pages continue to load quickly.

Something unhappy going on at the servers, perhaps?

A minute a page makes the forums nearly impossible to use.

I also check a couple other VB forums and they're acting weird too.

yeah I've been seeing these really slow load times on this site as well, complete with "page could not be displayed" errors, but not on the other vbulletin site that I visit.

Yes, there is some type of issue that appears to have started last night. The problem is not with the actual forum but appears to be an issue with the servers or bandwidth at IB.

The other sites rx8club.com and mazda3club.com are also experiencing the same issues.

I have been trying to get in contact with someone (at IB) who can help, but as of this time I am still out of luck.

Sorry guys.

Is anyone surprised that DKJ can't get ahold of anyone to fix the problem?

Anyone still having issues?

I was able to reach someone shortly after posting my earlier response.

I don't know nothing about the previous and the new owners, but how are the new owners messing up this site? But the only thing I read was about Rotary Resurrection being banned from the site. But don't know if it was with the old or new owners.

The new owners really don't have much to do with the day to day operations of the forum. That responsibility still lies with the moderations staff who has remained (mostly) the same throughout the last couple of years with exception to the former owner/member who was also an admin.

IB pretty much controls the major upgrades or changes and the advertising you see in banners and whatnot, while daily administration is controlled by the volunteer staff.

RR isn't banned (see here: https://www.rx7club.com/member.php ) and when he was banned it was only for a few days or more. RR's ban had nothing to do with the owners (previous or current), but rather his own refusal to work with the current volunteer moderation staff.

The success or failure of the forum relies much more on the actions of it's users than the actions of it's staff. With more than 100,000 users you guys are what makes this place work and for nearly 12 years you all have been doing a great job in keeping the rx7club.com the best and largest forum dedicated to one of the greatest sportscars the world has ever known.

We thank you all for your support.

That sounds quite elaborate and the first I have heard of such an issue.

I personally don't know of any effort RR has made to contact a moderator or admin (at least not me) to resolve the issue so I'm likely to believe that some of the story could have been contrived in order to gain sympathy. Especially if his posts were removed as he requested.

Regardless, if he was making up duplicate accounts to circumvent a temporary ban he was knowingly violating forum rules anyhow and would be subject to a possible perma-ban.

There is nothing to speak of here with a go-between, if RR wants to work something out, he knows who to contact otherwise there really isn't much to say about the issue.

Thanks for your interest in the matter...

BTW - Anyone else having a problem with SLOW LOADING PAGES, after all that's what this thread is originally about.

I didn't start last night... this has been the case for a while. Months. The page get's 90-95% loaded, to the point where you think it's ready to scroll/use, but instead you get multiple episodes of the loading cursor (it's a spinning rainbow on MAC), and sometimes the page actually has to reload itself before it's done and usable.

In Safari it just says, "loading 55 out of 58 items" or some such, but in the new Firefox it says "waiting for Google Syndication" so I'm pretty sure it's the ads (no surprise).

I thought it might just be me, but with all new browsers and fast computer, I don't think so anymore.
