A quick google search for "waiting for google syndication" reveals several possible reasons. It's not so much the ads as the way your system configuration handles the ads. Otherwise we would have hundreds if not thousands of complaints.

You might want to try the FireFox adblock plugin. Here is the link, you might have to do a little more searching if there is a different one for Mac.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10

Good luck.

working great for me again! Thanks DKJ for the effort.

EDIT: Ad Block Plus does wonders, especially if you're using FF3.

I'm on a bunch of other vBulletin-based, and other forums that don't have this problem, and I know they're getting Google ads. Even if the others are still recieving syndication, at least the page is usable. This forum is paralyzed by them.

Sorry, but it's THIS forum only, and consistent accross several browsers on work/home machines.

I understand what your saying...but if this forum was "paralyzed" as you say we would have lots of other complaints... the simple fact is "we don't", and we are hardly "paralyzed" as you state.

So far you are the only person who has even mentioned this issue. There are already a half-dozen people in this thread who report all is well. Ask any of them if they are getting the dreaded google syndication error. Consider what the common denominator is between all the systems you use? Same ISP? Similar software? User? I'm not debating the fact your problem is real, however the facts are that your the only person reporting the problem. Until we have more information on the issue your just shooting blanks into the dark.

Heck, there are only so few google hits for that search string it's hard to believe the problem is widespread for anyone. Do some research, the answer is out there. It only took me about 10 minutes to find it.

You should have the ability to watch your own network traffic. If so look closely when attempting this syndication and look to see where the packets are getting slow response times or loss packets. Most likely this will be your issue.

Typically this issue happens at the ISP or backbone level.

Again if you'd like to consider a work around on your end, here is a good option: http://forums.opendns.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=474

The reason no one complains is because we have all become accustom to the snails pace at which this forum loads and the erractic behavior from one day to the next

IB needs to step it up and do as they promised when they took over and kick down on a real server

Is that an just a rant/opinion or do you want actually assistance solving your issue?

I use run-of-the-mill DSL and I never have slowness issues (with exception to the occasional major outage) pages load usually within 1 second unless some ***-hat posts huge images in a sig or thread.

I'm continuing to have longer then normal page load times but mostly it's when I click on the reply button or when I try to reply to a PM. Most everything else functions OK. Overall the site has been slow to respond to page requests, but the majority of lag occurs when replying to posts/PMs.

I appreciate your efforts, if not your attitude, DKJ. You're still the best admin we have around here.

I am having the same problem on my end. It's rather frustrating at times, and I usually just hit the Back button or I close the page out of my irritation.

Either someone at IB fixed it or adblock fixed it. I also installed NoScript and now it's running much faster. I made sure i added googlesyndication, ibpxl.com, internetbrands.com, ads.doubleclick.net, and intellitext.com to untrusted hosts and it made the pages speed up quite a bit.

What were the exact addresses that you added if you don't mind?

+1. It took me about 2 minutes to add this reply. Something has gone south over the last few days.

Was fine for me up until around mid-day today... now over a minute pageloads again.

Hope it gets sorted soon; Love the site, but my attention span just can't hang that long... lol

Has the administrator tried posting up something to get donations so we can get a quality server / provider?

I used to own my own game server hosting company before I went to college, and I know a LOT of people with some stupidly powerful server / server farms, extra space in their racks, and a lot of quality bandwidth.

Also linux FTW

Let me know if you are interested in any of the above.

Yeah my page loads today are between 3 and 8 minutes a piece.

The company that owns the forum has more than enough capital to support many levels of scalable hosting. (see below)

Posted on their website August 6th 2008: Total revenues for the second quarter of 2008 were $25.3 million, an 18% increase from $21.4 million in the prior year period.

**post edited because of my own better judgement**

Oh, I did not know the site is owned by a company now, instead of by the users. I really think we should all figure out a way to ditch this forum and start up a good one that is user owned. I have no clue how to move all the information over though. :/

I will look into it.

I feel like I have been traded / sold out here. Instead of the forum being for the good of the community, it is slowly being ruined so that some cooperate v8 drivers can get their wives their much needed plastic surgery.

Moving information en masse would be a violation of content copyright laws and would bring you much more trouble that it's worth. There are plenty of other forums out there to join, many with much of the same information but none are as well known and beloved as this one.

To many this is home, and we (the staff) want it to stay that way... none of the groups who have gotten upset about the way things are and stormed off has been able to develop a forum which has anywhre the mass appeal of the rx7club.

I think your a bit off the mark in your feelings about being sold out, that's far from the case. A more rational way to consider it is if your local mom and pop shop had been bought out by the big national chain. Remember all the people who actually work here are still the same and we haven't sopped caring. PS - The forum sale is old news, more than a year old so nothing that has happened recently is a direct result of the sale.
