What an evening we both had
So Nismo_Convert (Kevin) and I agreed on prices on a few of his factory parts he had. I wanted to help him get some of the stuff he didn't need out of wherever he had them. I bought from him the stock radio+tape player (which I wanted), the S4 N/A UIM and LIM, which I want to port, and an S4 AFM, to replace the one I have, as it may be the culprit to the car dying. So we meet up in Grand Bend, at 7, in the Beer Store parking lot.
As I'm crusing down hwy 21, I come up on it, and see his 7, the only car there, in the lot. I pull in, and sure enough, its him. We talk for a while, and then, once its good and dark, I pipe up with "you wanna wire this thing in?" "Sure, why not?"
I had already yanked the aftermarket system today, so that was out of the way. We start wiring it up, and, some of my connectors fit the thing, great! Not so great. We had power to it, and it was getting signal from the antenna (FM96, London's Best Rock was coming in, the ST icon was on), but no output to the speakers. This is f'd up, the front speakers should be on, that's what that harness is for. We double checked with the FSM, and yep, it was the front speaker harness.
The thing is, it was supposed to be. The previous owner, when he decided to hack his stereo in there, bypassed the amps, and rewired the speakers, not utilizing the factory harnesses, but instead using the aftermarket harness. DAMN IT. So now, I've got one harness I can chop off, and use for the front speakers, and need to find another to mate up with the other blue piece that connects the rear speakers and the head unit.
All in all, it was a decent evening, and we both had a decent time. Just too bad previous owner guy had to hack his stereo install. Furthermore, I believe I found the reason of my blowing illum fuse. My father hacked in a wire for the memory, by simply sticking bare wire into a wiring harness over by the CPU. Tard.
By the time it was time to leave, after having my interior lights on for about 2.5 hours, my car wanted to part in starting, and Kev decided we should bump start it, which I had never done before. It didn't work so well. He ended up boosting me, and you could tell my battery was done pretty good, when he threw the booster cables onto my battery, his car's idle dropped likely over 300 rpm.
Hope you enjoyed that somewhat!

Bwuahaha. Yeah, we likely could have. I was out there today. I wired up spade connectors to it, and applied power, but no dice, it wanted no part of it. I didn't check the fuse until tonight when I left work.

YEAH! I finally got it working. Turns out, I only needed one power wire, and its active at ACC. Without a memory wire, it still keeps its memory?!? I had to hook up all the speaker wires to the front speaker prongs, because I fried the little metal box, but it works!
