The starting prices on websites don't have any influence on what the car sells for. Which website are you looking at this stuff through? If you go to www.japaneseusedcars.com and go to systems at the top, then to estimates, you can use the list of cars on the left to find out what cars have sold for in previous auctions. You will have to go to page 40-50 or something like that to find the 92 FD's. Also, if you sign up at www.best-trade-auction.com you can sometimes find out the selling price of some of the cars that have went through the auction. But they don't always show you the final sale price.

I am tempted to use a trailer for delivery but I will have to see how much the delivery cost is. Flying down is cheap for me since my gf works for west jet as a stuartist. My plan is to take the car to a mechanic shop in vancouver the day that I get it and get the engine oil, tranny oil and diff oil all changed and get the coolant changed aswell. Also have them do a quick inspection to see if the car is able to do the trip. If that all checks out than I will drive the car. but if not I may just send it back with a trucking company.

Here is a list of all expenses that I will have when trying to clear the car through customs in Canada. The $250 clearance fee is the price to pay someone to handle all of the paperwork for me. Since I have never done this before, I am thinking it would almost be better to pay someone to do it all then for me to go through the hassle of doing it.

Duty: 6.1%
GST: 6%
Excise Tax for air conditioning: $100

*** GST is applicable to the tax paid value (the duty and excise tax are
also taxable). ***

Clearance fee: $250 + GST
Disbursement fee of 2.5% of duties and taxes if paid by credit card
CFIA clearance: $43

Additional costs:
-- A paying fee if required to protect and pay terminal fees: $10

-- $25 abstract fee per vehicle (when we have to abstract a manifest)

--- if applicable

-- There will also be terminal fee which are payable before the vehicle
is released from the docks (usually about $150.00)

-- depending how quickly vehicle gets cleared thru customs there could be
possible storage fees at the docks. For example, one of the docks, give a
few free days storage and then it's approx $15 per day per vehicle. Once
again, these fee's must be paid before vehicle will be released from the
docks.

this all puts me around $6600+/- +shipping.

Do you have a shop in Van? or do you happen to know of a good shop in Van that is close to where the port is?

I can't say anything yet as I'm not done the whole process and havent seen the car in person. But so far things are looking good.

I would say at the very least, you've silenced the "put up, or shut up" crowd. And you seem like the kind of guy who has the integrity to say its a nightmare, if it turns into a nightmare. I'm excited to see how this turns out.

Thanks for the kind words. And you are right, I will definatly let everyone know if this turns out to be a complete nightmare. If I lose money importing the car I would rather save everyone else their money instead of my dignity. haha.

thanks man. I'll be heading down early may. If you have msn you should add me. My e-mail is futball_22@hotmail.com. You will have to keep me up to date on when your car is landing. You might be able to save some money if you fly down with me and we drive the cars back. haha.

I just realised that yours is available in April. Mine has a april reg. month so I am stuck waiting til May. So you get a full month of Making me jelous. You Bastard.

Seems like you know what your doing. However, theres a thread on the skyline forum of a lad who did a step by step on how to get your car off the dock. I can link if you like.

Nice truck. I drove a Ram 3500 Cummins all last year and it was awesome.

thanks, i love the truck. its a blast. I only have intake and exhaust done on it but she sounds mean.

If you could link me to that page that would be greatly appretiated. I'm going to do my research and hopefully I will be able to do all the paper work myself and save myself the $250 and spend that on mods. lol.

i'm more interested in seeing if you need to spend anything at all after you get the car, be it fixing broken items or just replacing certain things that are worn. guess we will have to wait until April. man, i'd be going crazy waiting that long, haha.

Wow, that seems like a big headache. It is probubly worth the $250 to pay someone to do it all. Thanks for posting that, it helps me out big time.
