PURCHASED - 1992 RX-7 Anfini

Well I have just recieved noticed that I have won my bid on a 1992 RX-7 Anfini. My bid was 550,000JPY but they decided to purchase the car for me for 575,000JPY. This price is FOB so this should include all costs except for shipping. Although since the car was a april registration month I will be in charge of paying for a couple of months storage which will be around a extra $300.

Here are some pics of the car.

Since they did bid a little higher than I wanted them to I am trying to work on a deal with them to get a discount on the storage fee. I am just waiting on a answer from them on this.

As I have mention before I will be keeping everyone informed on my purchase and let you all know every fee that I incure. But since I don't get the car til may this thread might not get too much action.

I have just recieved a e-mail from them and they said that we will be able to at minimum halve the costs of shipping, but he said that hopefully they won't charge me anything at all. Plus their company took some extra photos of the car for me and those will be getting forwarded on to my e-mail later on tonight or first thing in the morning. I will post those once I have recieved them.

Awesome! Congrats man you'll love it! Post more pictures when you get them. Can't beat the price of importing one from Japan.. If I did the math right it ended up being like 1/3 or even 1/4 of what it owuld have cost you for a local 3rd Gen RX-7.

Thanks for all of the kind words.

Here are the pictures that I have just recieved in my e-mail. I am still waiting for a total amount after shipping and storage fees. I should have that all figured out within the next day or 2.

So far I am very pleased with everything and can't wait for May to get here so I can get the car.

by the sounds of it this should be a accurate list on all extra fees that I will come across after shipping is payed.

"The customer has to keep in mind all the other costs that appear on our bill:
Duty: 6.1% (of value)
GST: 6% (of value + duty)
Excise tax: $100.00 (if it has an air conditioner)
Excise taxes if weight is over 2007 kgm
CFIA inspection fee: $43.00 CAD
Terminal fee: 60.00 - 100.00
Courier fees: $20.00 (approx"

I think I might be paying a broker around $250 to handle all of the customs forms/registration forms to get the car out of the port for me. I think this will save me some major head aches.

I am doing majority of it on my own. Well as much as I can from my computer. I am purchasing the car through www.japaneseusedcars.com . They are incharge of looking at the cars for me and bidding on them. They also handle all documentation in Japan and organise shipping for me. But I did get to pick which cars I bid on, and give them specific instructions on what to look for. I am also thinking, as I stated above, hiring someone for arond $250 to handle all importing procedures at the port. Just to help things go a bit smoother and to make sure i have all of the documents in order. But I will be flying down and will be present while the car is being offloaded and I will be driving the car home from the port.

From the auction it is just under 6grand. And my total will be right around 8grand after all shipping/boarder fees are covered.

Damn *starts counting pennies* ...thats a great price! If you could keep track of the cost you incur, I'd be interested in the outcome....

...*starts counting nickels*

Football, do you think driving the car all the way home is such a good idea? I mean the car may need to have things looked at before it's ready for a long trip. I mean the last thing you want is to cause damage on the way home. maybe look into a trailer? I don't know, just a idea.

Also, from your experience at the auction site, what correlation do you see in regards to the starting bid and the final price. The site I am looking at only has the start bid, some have a low start, while other have a higher starting bid.

also, I actually saw your car on the site yesterday, it looks like a great pick up.

Wow, I checked out that site and I'm surprised at the price of the cars. I figured it would be upwards of 20g's for a lot of them, but its not too bad. I guess the expensive part with JDM only cars is getting parts. I really want a skyline, might check out this site when I get more money.
