PROBLEM with boost

So here's my problem. All of a sudden i cant put my foot down past half or it feels like i hit the governor. In other words i cant boost....if i slowly press down on the gas i can rev higher but as soon as i lay into it at all it cuts out. I good friend of mine and fellow fd owner helped me by pass the solenoid that controls the actuator behind the throttle body. Now i can floor it and get up in the rpm but no boost at all. I wish i knew the name of these but ive one owned this car for about 6 months and dont know exactly what everything is and how it works. If anyone can give me a hand it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Does gas cut out when you put your foot down or what happens?

it seems like the gas cuts out. Also i can feather the gas pedal and hear the turbo spool but thats the most i can do even a little bit more gas it will hesitate and more than that it cuts out.

Could be a number of things, from a vacuum hose coming off to a bad fuel pump. I would start at the FPR vacuum hose and back track where your hands were last looking for anything you may have disturbed along the way.

ur probably in limp mode ( ecu safety mode wont allow you to boost as it has detected a potentially dangerous error) check your codes and if possible have a fellow rx7ener look at it

Is it a specific point on the accelerator that triggers the cut? If it is, your TPS is out of spec and needs to be calibrated. With a PowerFC, its easy to recalibrate, with stock ECU you might need a voltmeter and some time hehe.

Does it make noise when it cuts or is it pretty silent/smooth.

it seems like its a specific point...its the same all the time. But when i by-passed the solenoid that controls the valve behind the throttle body i can put the accelerator all the way to the floor and its fine except that there is NO boost at all. What does that valve control?

Can you show a picture of the valve?

Sounds like they disconnected the solenoid that controls the secondary turbo actuator….

Pretty sure thats the double throttle. Have a look...

http://www.rx7.org/Robinette/double_throttle.htm

It needs to be open when the car is warmed up or I don't think it will be able to boost.

Hey guys i know its been a while but the problem went away and now its back. Ive been looking in the archives and think that my secondary injectors are probably bad or are really dirty. Does that make sense to you?

is it ignorant loud? like exhaust leak/blown exhaust loud? check an make sure your turbo is bolted to the manifold, ask me how i know. probably a long shot but i blew the gasket out of there an had a similar sort of result, try to boost an just get noise

i just changed all the gaskets in the turbo housing and any one around it so i know for sure thats not the problem. Also it was running fine for a while boosting great and then it started this. Then again it started to run good and now back to crap.

Sounds like limp mode. With the PowerFC, the problem will be easier to diagnose.
