Well I'm still alive after my first go at the dragon. Scott and I got home around 3 am this morning. We got such a good drive in yesterday that we decided to do the drive home all in one shot as well. What an awesome trip!!! Hey Marco, did you get any more speeding tickets on the way home?

Oh I had my share of fun for sure !!! Blown Diff, Fuel Pump problems are the biggest ones. My Saturday was just a write off, too bad all the events were going on then.
I took the car in to Mr. Transmission because of the ridiculous whine it was making, and that new diff had ALOT of play from the pinion bolt, and also we believe the pinion bearing is gone also. I changed the oil out after just a bit over 1000km on it, and it looked like its been in there for years !!! The guys couldn't believe that this stuff was 2 days old. Also It had a few metal chunks in there ... which I really hope to god is from the old diff, but we'll see soon enough I guess. Needless to say, that diff needs to come apart again and go for a full rebuild.
The transmission is also overheating on the highway, so I need to build a heat shield for that sometime also. All my gears start to whine badly on the highway. I changed the oil out and put in 1/2 quart of Lucas, the rest was a half half mixture of ATF from royal purple, and AMSoil 75-90 severe gear oil. Thats help re-quiet it down again, and the shifting is improved but we'll see how long that last for without a heat shield.
As for my fuel pump issues, I've had a tank that doesn't want to vent, and also a slow burning fuse problem, along with a burning out relay, also the fuel pressure regulator apparently wasn't setup properly (thanks marco for the tip on that), and last but not least the pump itself may already be going. But on the way back after fixing the rest, it seemed to have stabilized.

Is that actually on the gap? I don't remember the pull offs being paved.
You should have just took off, they never would have caught you.

The event truly was awesome. The amount of stuff I learned just by wandering around and listening to some of these guru's talk to each other was worth the trip.
Nice to finally meet some of the other Canadian forum members (I was the blue RX8 at the motorcycle resort at the end of the Dragon.)
As for Marco's ticket, I haven't had a chance to check the video yet, but I did have the camera running when you guys all passed me going the other way, and then I came up on Marco pulled over on my way back out.

Damn, I didn't even think to take pictures of the destruction for you Sam. You tore that diff up very well.
The whole trip was a great experience for me and I'd do it again in a heart beat. It was awesome meeting all the new people I met and getting to know the rest of the guys I made the trip with. Next time though, definitally taking the Rx-4.

Sam was coming down from the cabin. My guess is it was ready to pop, and had been smashed up in one direction (drive) The reverse loading from hanging off the diff coming down the hill pushed the teeth in the other direction - pop.

. There's no reason to speed on the highway anyway lol.
