I'm assuming joe is going to book the cabin but I'll let him chime in on that?

I'm starting to strip the car to get painted at Joe's. Pending when I get it back and my schedule etc I might not have it together in time. I don't want to rush things since I will not be doing this again.

Its posted in the thread title marco apr. 16-18

!!ATTENTION ALL PEOPLE WHO HAVE WANTED TO DO THIS BEFORE!!

(yes, phil hints at this every year, but is for real this time )IF THE VILLAGE IS NOT FILLED COMPLETELY THIS YEAR, THEN THIS WILL BE THE LAST DEALS GAP ROTARY RALLY UNLESS SOMEONE ELSE DECIDES TO RUN IT.

IF YOU WANTED TO DO IT BEFORE BUT BITCHED OUT, CHEAPED OUT, COULDN'T PUT YOUR CAR TOGETHER, OR LOST YOUR HOUSE IN A POKER GAME DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THIS YEAR OR YOU MIGHT MISS OUT ALTOGETHER

Us snowbacks always make a solid appearance, but anyone who's aspired to make the journey for one of THE BEST ROTARY MEETINGS/CRUISE YOU WILL EVER EXPERIENCE needs to make the commitment this year.

I can arrange the cabin once I register. Might try for something thats not on the hill top this time.......just for ease of getting around/parking etc.

for those that have gone before, would you be able to ballpark cost for me? I've always been interested in going and if there is a chance this could be the last one i think i need to step up and finally go to it however im really trying to get in as much time behind the wheel on a track as i can next season.

Its not that bad. Cost of gas is probable the majority. Budget 2 hotel nights split amongst friends. Its hard for me to say because thewird and classicauto and I went to florida keys.

I think you could do it for around $400.

hmm. that makes sense i supose. for some reason i was thinking it would be about half that, then i remember it costs me around 200 bucks in gas to go to shannonville for a few hours. damn. Im most likley gonna have to sit this one out. as awesome as it looks/sounds, i really am addicted to lapping. y'all have fun!

Yea cost is tough to say. I would honestly think $400 is on the low side when you include gas and everything.

Figure $650 including gas on the safe side. Plus, generally speaking, you may want to buy something when you're there like a key chain, or a dragon t-shirt or something.......last thing you want is to be strapped when you've got 160ish days to bank some coin away

EDIT: gotta remember. This place is not just around the corner......its not an unfeasible drive, but you're going to pump through at LEAST 3 tanks of gas to get down there, which in of itself is about $150.

Keep in mind gas in the states is substantially cheaper then up here. I think I remember having a hard time stuffing more then $40 for 93 octane in my tank last year.

I think I remember the RX-8 that went with us the last time doing 400+ km to the tank. FC guys were getting 500 km. And I could somehow manage 600 km with my FD fuel tank and lean as hell map

Yah it helps a lot which is why I mentioned the the FD tank. But I did notice even so I was topping up less then others which I found odd considering my modifications and porting.

I topped up every chance we got but the GTR can squeak 650KM out of a tank if it's all HWY.

I just hate being "that guy" that's out of gas so I always keep it full.

Unfortunately the 20B despite having a GIANT tank (85L?) will only go 450KM per fill on the highway so I'll need fuel more often this year.

Man you've had some interesting cars. So you are going to bring a rotary powered vehicle for the first time to the DGRR! Sweet.

Wow, are they really serious about it being the last year for the event? If they are I better step up the build on the Rx-4 and get it there this year. Early april will come fast though. When is the deadline for registration?

Probably should have went to their site first.....good one Joe. I'll still try and get the Rx-4 ready for the event. Having a date to shoot for will give me the motivation to finish it.

Last year it cost me about $450US or so, I think. I brought about $900US but didn't end up needing it all. It's actually a surprisingly cheap trip, and you'll certainly get the most fun per dollar spent than most things I can think of. Rotarygreg, forget lapping, this is an 11 mile, 318 turn racetrack. So you don't go to a lapping day or two, you'll get ten times more fun out of the Dragon.

I'll be there in 2011, whether it's an actual event or I just run down with a small group. I'm missing it this year, and I think the biggest issue I have is my total lack of excitement. This time last year I was all giddy just thinking about all those beautiful corners. Now I miss driving my car and the thought of not going isn't very pleasant at all. I guess I could take the Sunfire, but I think that would just get me depressed thinking about how pathetic it would look with me trying to muscle a poorly engineered front driver on crappy all-seasons around the twisties while angry 7's stack up behind me, horns blaring.
