canadian jdm importers

hey guys, im starting to look for a jdm rx7 fd to buy. I was wondering if you guys could recommend some good importers that are going to sell my complete garbage. i have been checking out these two importers called tyeeimports.com and qualitycarscalgary.com and they all seem like they bring in pretty decent cars. so any help would be great thanks.

I don't know anything about the two places you named, but I do know someone locally (Calgary) who imports JDM's - unlike some importers, he knows someone in Japan who checks the cars out for him, rather than relying on auction sites and reports. As Smitter hinted at, a budget is a good idea when it comes to FD's, North American market or JDM. Any particular reason you're looking JDM? Because any FD can have a weak motor or suffered abuse/lack of care, but at least if you're looking at a car that's already here, you can better assess it's condition and history (and you're unlikely to get any history at all on a JDM). In any case, be aware repairs on a JDM are no less expensive than a NAM - and if you're tall, especially long of leg, there is less driver's footwell depth and seat travel on JDM's.

well im looking at jdm because i dont want to go through the process of having to bring a rx7 to canada from the states to get a left hand drive one. Also there are a ton of jdm ones landed in canada at import dealerships so i would be able to get to look at them, and test drive them to make sure there not trashed and have a good variety of rx7's to check out. But if you guys have a rx7 fd your selling send me some pics and info as i would gladly like to check it out. Also my price range is no more then 11 grand

$11G will get you into a JDM FD, although I'm not sure what sort of condition - I know good ones around here have been asking more than that, typically (and even some not-so-good ones).

discussed in this current thread: https://www.rx7club.com/canadian-forum-42/all-you-cry-you-cant-find-nice-fd-819690/

A really nice example, although it blows by your budget number. Check the Canadian classified section here too, cars do get listed. Canada Trader lets you search coast to coast.

Worth mentioning is that it's way easier to bring in and certify an FD from the States than Japan. All an importer is doing is looking after the paperwork and shipping for you, either way, but they aren't doing it for free - it's just already built into the price on a JDM car already landed in Canada. For a US car, it's straightforward enough to do yourself. Go to the Registrar of Imported Vehicles website (www.riv.ca) for the requirements and process for US and non-North American vehicles. As of June of 2008, it is no longer even necessary, as in the past, to upgrade US FD's to the stronger Canadian spec bumpers - DRL's and metric labels are the only requirements (the labels are stickers for your speedo that the Canadian Tire inspection supplies for you, iirc - you don't have to actually put them on, however).
