Last year's meet had 24 cars or thereabouts, and the head count was just shy of 30.

These are the kind of meets you read about in a magazine. Its starts off with like 20 people, then over the years it grows so big you accually have to rent a facility, and vendors show up.

Or at least, one day I hope it will come to that. Me and Brett would be pretty proud. Mind you, its brett's baby now. I had no input this year.

Uh, correction: You (and I think at least a couple others) had been dropping not-so-subtle hints for another bbq at this location for several months prior to the official announcement. This makes you culpable.

I just had a thought... (don't be alarmed, it actually happens sometimes. Usually after sex):

For those participating in the cruise from Deerfoot mall to Black Diamond, the most enjoyable route would be via Glenmore trail to hwy 8, then south on hwy 22. Once you reach Bragg creek you'll want to turn left at the 4-way stop. This will allow you to continue south on 22 for another three km or so until you come to a T-intersection. This is where hwy 22 heads eastbound.

Once you've made the left turn at this intersection you'll see (a few hundred feet ahead of you) the intersection (right turn, southbound again) onto the famed and highly-regarded hwy 762. This is the twisty secondary highway that takes you to the back side of Millarville before once again linking you up to hwy 22 southbound toward Turner Valley and Black Diamond.

The best idea would be for the entire entourage to pull over to the side after turning eastbound but before turning south onto 762 in order to allow all stragglers in the group to catch up.

Here's more useful info regarding 762:

At first you'll be on a long straight-away of about 2 km, then the twisties begin. A few minutes later you'll again be on another straight for about a minute and a half, followed by some of the best twisties available. After that it's 5 km of straight (watch for cops along this stretch--- they like to lurk at the intersection of Plumber's road, just before you hit the bottom of the first steep uphill grade).

You'll then come to a 4-way stop at the corner of hwys 547 and 762. Turn left here. This puts you eastbound on 547, with more twisties for about 10km. Follow this until just past Millarville, where you'll turn right (southbound) onto 22.

Yeah did that route last year on the way back, it was great. i would suggest we do like last year, 1st meet all the north group at country hills, then cruise as a group to a second meet with the south guys at westhills. From there we complete the cruise as a group.

From west hills it would be easy to take the number 8 or 9 or whatever that is down to Bragg creek

That's right, it was kinda cool to meet up north and do a city cruise to west hills rather than all come from any direction. Meet at country hills at 12 pm, depart to west hills 12:30. Everyone fromt he south meets at westhills at 1 pm, north group should arrive about then, depart at 1:30 toward Bragg Creek. Just a suggestion.

We could always still meet at deerfoot at 11 that way it gives people some time to ge tto know eachother, than depart from there around 12 or 12:30 and head over to west hill through Glenmore or something like that. We would have to allow some time for people getting stuck in traffic and whatnot before we left for Bragg Creek. As you said this will help the people who live in South Calgary so that they don't have to drive back and forth through town.

We'll finalize meeting time with more input. Deerfoot does sound like a good departure spot, especially for anyone arriving from outside and north of calgary. Be more efficient to cruise 64th to 14 street, then 24 ave to crowchild and up to richmond rd like last year, it'll take 20 minutes to westhills at the max. Traffic was smooooth and no road construction.

Yeah that would work pretty good. I guess I am partial to the Deerfoot mall idea since I live in Airdrie. It works out great for me.

Eight more days to go. Here's the updated list of volunteered food and bevs:

Tiana and I: 1 box of burgers and one package of wieners (This should get us all started), condiments, salad dressing, paper plates/utensils and two 12-packs of bevs.

Alak: Camcorder.

Archangels: Chips.

Football22: Potato salad and cheese slices.

84Stock: Buns for burgers and wieners.

Not bad so far, but we still need a few more volunteers for the following:

More burgers and wieners. Last year we ran out of these and had to make an emergency dash to get more. Best option for burgers is the economy-sized frozen ones--- they offer best bang for your buck and don't fall through the grill while being cooked.

Tossed salad. Safeway sells them by the bag full. Three or four bags should be plenty.

More bevs. 12-packs of pop are available at places like Walmart and Superstore for under $5 each. The two cases that Tiana and I supply might last half an hour at best. As for beer, I think volunteers brought three cases last year and there was at least one case left over after the last guests had left. If anybody wants to bring a case let us know so that we don't have too much. (if there ever is such a thing as too much beer...)

Ice. "Nuff said.

Coolers. Unfortunately we have none here. We'll need two of these.

Fresh fruit. There's bound to be a few people who eat healthier than the rest of us. One of those fruit trays from Safeway would be plenty.

That should about do it. If you intend to bring any of the above still-required items please post it here so we can plan accordingly. Thanks in advance.

I wonder just how many coolers I can fit in the FB.

Hopefully the auto parts store orders the right brake rotors this time, or I'll be heading out in my Jeep.

I just called Max but he wasn't home. I'll try to reach him sometime this week. Hopefully he'll show up at the meet but he's a busy guy so who knows? If I can contact him I might be able to pick up the part for you so you can get it at the BBQ.

I imagine if max showed up, it would turn into a bit of a tech session instead of a BBQ. Not to say thats bad, just, put yourself in his shoes. You come to a BBQ to enjoy yourself, and everyone wants a piece of your knowledge.

Although, it would be nice to see him and the others. I havent seen them since the debuet of his PP Fc at that porsche track day eons ago.
