ON Cuzzynz 86 Gxl

So I tried the whole V8 rx7 thing and didn't like it. sold the 5.0L FC and found a 1986 FC GXL in mint shape. needed nothing to be road legal.. driving it. planing on doing a turbo 2 swap and then doing suspension, for now nothing big motor wise enjoying driving it way to much to do to much. just bought a new house so now i FINALLY have a garage to work on a car so ill hopefully do a lot of work this winter.
here are some pictures of the RX7
Final goal is maybe 300hp turbo2 swap with minor porting for now and a solid suspension for drive-ability.

When are you pulling that naturally aspirated wankel and what are you going to do with it?
Want to sell it? I'd be interested to hear it run first, before you pull it. PM me.

Hope the swap goes smoothly! Is that a USDM or JDM spec TII engine? I went through swapping in a JDM TII engine into my 86 RX-7 last year, so if something stumps you feel free to PM me since it probably stumped me as well.

i haven't looked all that into it. im removing all accessories to the motor so it will be just a bare TII motor and im sure i will have tons of questions.. first time doing all this. although from the sounds of it my motor isn't aloud to come out of the GXL until the turbo motor is ready to go in.. wife has spoken. which is a good call because ill end up pulling motor and never finishing it.. been working on my garage should be posting some updates soon in the middle of renovating a house and insulating my garage.

Garage is insulated, Heated, Kinda clean. The Rx7 is getting some serious updates, Wife got me some Stop Tech pads for it but the calipers were seized. so i tried to fix them but they wont move.. so i'm going to buy some reman calipers. then i've been working on rebuilding a Manual steering rack so that i can remove power steering when i swap the turboII motor that I have Cleaned, Painted (ricer mods) into the GXL for some big turbo mods.
Have been toying with the idea of swapping the Haltech onto the N/A motor and swapping injectors and bolting the s4 turbo and manifold on and seeing about running a boosted N/A for the summer until the TurboII is 100% ready to go into the car has this been done? (i assume that it has) is there any major mods that must be done?

Gold!

Decided not to pull the motor apart and rebuild it because it seems to have good compression

Going for the Ironman Colours..

some updates..
ordered some Isr Coilovers from Enjuku.. don't recommend buying off Enjuku if your Canadian they really hurt you with broker fees.. (bum is still sore)
after installing coilovers i decided i was going to start removing my N/A engine and get ready to swap my TurboII set up in.. then the snow went away and i decided to keep it N/A this summer so i removed the Power steering system since i have a manual rack for the car.
I also ordered some cool things from LRB Speed for my car

put the rims back on it now that the suspension was set a little nicer. looks good but now i have to roll the fenders. relocated the front plate off to the side, not a huge fan of the mounting place but i didn't really want to cut a million holes. Powered By Max camber arm just came in so i will be installing that to correct some of that rear camber.

Well I am a Tard

lastnight at a local car meet i had a belt fall apart on my fc.. luckily I did have spares at home.. although i lived 30mins away from this meet.. decided that I will be buying brand new belts and hopefully a new alternator pulley that will allow me to run 2 v belts on the motor at all times..
after looking and thinking about it im pretty sure the belt actually broke on my way to the meet because i had noticed that my volts were at like 9volts not hovering around the 12 marker as it usually does when its charging properly. but stupid me didn't think to look because it wasn't overheating and it started up fine so i just assumed another wiring issue.
now time for spring tune up on the car.. flush some things and replace somethings.. waiting on a led kit for the dash. also planing on fixing the idiot light panel since it cuts in and out and i do not have a radio at this time and that clock would be nice since right now my 20min drive to work is really long because i have no music or a sense of time.. lol

Looking forward to seeing the led dash lights and how it looks . Now that I installed a full rb t2 exhaust, it's quiet again in the cabin .old was 3" turbo back single and loud ! So am installing a radio again . But in a different location since I like the race car inspired dash I'm going for lol

Not many peep know the old card trick . I use index card now since they a lil longer and wider . And you get like 100 to a pack . Love the color combo on the engine . Just went back and saw those pics . Still waiting on those LEDs in the cluster lol . And what style LEDs ?

Im still waiting for the LEDs to arrive, also i've had these cards for a while. The LEDs should just be plain white light hoping that it cleans but they are coming from china so i am sure that they will take for ever. I also got some LED headlights still waiting for them to.. shipping from china is no fun
