ok so close to saying im done and putting Rx7 up for sale.. literally makes no sense. i have a s4 t2 engine and harness and ecu and sensors.. did not mod harness to run engine cause really don't think it would negatively affect the engines performance, if im wrong let me know. running walbro 255 fuel pump.. ran to rich so put a aftermarket FPR still runs to rich.. idles ok except rich as hell and doesn't want to drive properly.. have no idea what i need to do to make this car run properly or at least half ***.. i would swap the haltech Sprint re in but i have no idea how to wire up a harness the way it is asking with all the relays and stuff.

Are you using the NA airflow meter? I just stumbled accross this thread and the NA meters will cause a rich condition.

Yep, 318 is the turbo unit. Has it been messed with? Has the air bypass screw been tampered?

On the S4 AFM, there is a screw to adjust the spring preload on the flapper door and a bypass. It may have been tampered.

I'd check over the TPS, make sure it's good and in spec, I had one before that was the cause of my richness when I was NA.

I was going to suggest going to the Haltech. I believe that I said as much earlier on, due to the fact that factory wiring and parts go bad after 25 years.

i know just scared to wire it in.. but i have done alot of reading and think i figured it out will be alot easier to see if something is wrong with the haltech rather then the ecu from the 80's

Nothing to be scared of. There are hundreds of writeups. Just like installing a stereo, only more wires.

Yeah. Simple. There are loads of resources. You'll be fine. Your other option is to pay someone to install, but that gets expensive.

do i have to run the factory ecu to control the body aspect of the harness? or just leave that plug dangling?

You will have to tie into it, I think, for a couple wires, but you can let it dangle.

I know it's not Haltech, but Aaron Cake has a writeup on his site for installing a Megasquirt into an FC. Installing any aftermarket controller is pretty much the same across the board, so you can follow his instructions for most of it.

How To Megasquirt Your 2nd Gen RX-7

Of course there is this resource

https://www.rx7club.com/haltech-foru...p-tips-850059/

And if I recall, you are using the Sprint RE correct, if so there's also this

well started wiring haltech in, got ecu placed in glove box to keep clean and safe, and would like to have the fuses and relays all wired up but amazon and canada post kinda boned me on that.. so sticking with engine harness and waiting until relays get here..

Haltech Things!!

Well, after a all nighter Friday the Haltech is 85% wired up, just have to wire, Tach signal, Aux Rev, and ignition switch. harness looks awesome compared to stock harness. ecu all tucked away in the glove box to keep it safe, then relays and fuses under floor where factory ecu was.
thanks C.Ludwig for all the help with wiring! I am sure I will have more questions soon and I will be looking for a nice tune.
Not going to loom the new harness until the engine fires up

I see you are running 5 relays instead of the usual 2. Are you running the ECM, fuel pump, injectors, coils, and fans all on separate relays?

Ok, I see that. At least this makes it easy to test branch circuits individually. I still have not decided, but I think with my car im going to just run 2 relays. One for fuel pump, one for the ECU and all ECU related electronics.

Im planning on mounting my fan relays to the core support, just for easy of access

Well everything except aux rev limiter is wired up, so far so good. Relays click with ignition. wanted to try to hook Haltech up to my computer but the USB on my computer doesn't work.. so now to bug a friend to use there computer to run a basemap for me.. Hopefully I can get this put back together and clean everything up so I can get it ready for winter.
