I check this thread often, every update amazes me, keep up the amazing work!!

I do hope the thin wall exhaust will withstand the heat generated by de engine on high rpms (or tuning on the dyno with different settings as you are going to do).
Why did you use such thin wall pipes?
Rotaries are known for their hot exhaust temps, but I assume you know that, that's why I ask!

Obviously Mazda didn't have the CFD software we have now when this was published, but still a cool visual and relevant to your tests

I could also use an airflow diagram for an SA/FB.

Would you care to scan and post them both?

Thanks,

The required wall thickness depends on more things other than just being a rotary engine. n/a or turbo matters a lot, and the used material is also very important. For this application with the material I used this thickness shouldn't be a problem.

I know I actually used that picture to make the fc model in solidworks.

Progress on the car is pretty slow at the moment. I'm currently fabricating the hood latches since I can't use the stock one anymore which is pretty time consuming.
Also ran into a problem with balancing the 4-rotor e-shaft which also needs a bit of attention.
I'll see if I can post some pictures tomorrow.

That's just silly.
Be happy that someone with the talent and means is willing to share the journey with us.

I agree. I've been following this build from its inception and it has inspired me to learn a couple new skills. So that maybe I will not have to rely on anyone other than myself for fabrication.

Thanks John.

I'm thinking more like 600's considering that's where most PP 4rotors sit

Update

Did some more work on the car, first thing I did was finish the hood locks. I couldn't use the stock one because of the hood vent. I could've fixed it really easy by making external hood pins that sit on top of the hood, but I don't like the way that looks and I want to be able to lock the hood from the inside of the car since it's going to be used on the streets.
I made 2 hooks that hook onto pins that extrude from the hood, one of those 2 hooks is unlocked from the inside of the car, the other one from inside of the hood vent. Works just as well as stock, took me over a day to make though.

Also mounted 2 19 row oil coolers

For some reason the stock bumper has a few blocked off holes, so I opened those up to get some more air to the oil coolers

Also got some more coils that I can try out, these are inductive coil on plug coils from a motorbike. These should work well, and they were cheap.

Next up is the swirl pot / coolant overflow can / windscreen wiper reservoir / catch can tank.
