Talk about karma, not a week after you generously offer that stock 85 tank I find an 85 GS project car that's is missing it's tank. Thanks Alex!
Chad up in Tennessee has a fuel cell installed in his Number 7 race car as I recall, you might want to check with him for tips on a good installation.

Craaaazzy, The more i read up about it the more im thinking about ditching the 6port bridge set up. Less porting it more some say.
Nothing new to update with yet, I ordered some wheels and send the money to the wrong person so now my money is being held by paypal so who knows when i will get it back.
In the mean time im borrowing some body parts from the "IT7" car while i have some parts painted.

Slow slow progress,
Seems like I only work on this thing once a week. Today I took off the brake booster which was a pain due to the cage being totally in the way. I also found rust on the drivers floor board
I think i finally decided to paint the car black, i kind of like the idea having my DD and my track car matching.

word of caution on that tank. Check the rules of IT7 and make sure you do not need to run a bladder tank.
More often than not, you can run a stock tank, or an ATL tank that is SFI or FIA certified, not the drag tank that you have pictured there.
Not sure if it will help you or not, I have an ITGT FB build thread in the racing section of the forums.
**Edit for engine choice**
If you are going for engine reliablity (as you should be) my, and fellow RX7 6port racers find that you are best to either use a stock port or a mild street port. Too much porting puts your power band way too high and you need torque to get you out of the corners, something a ported 6 port lacks.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the input, I haven't done much research on fuel cells but have checked out the ATL fuel cells and they look great. I was unaware the tank i have is considered a drag tank. The car will not be back in IT7 class so i wont have to worry about any rules for now.
Yea after reading a lot of information about porting I came to the same conclusion. stock or street port would probably be a better choice.
I don't know how i missed your build thread, Great work! i will definitely be reading the whole thing tonight

what makes it a drag tank is the rear sump, no bladder and its plastic (thus no certification). Most affordable SFI or FIA tanks have a metal outer shell with a flexible bladder.
My tank, even though it has a sump, has an SFI bladder that allows me to run in non-solo classes.
IIRC, you need a sfi or fia cert. to run in anything else other than solo or drag.
You also need to make sure that the tank is no lower than the frame of the car...including the sump. if you loose a wheel, you don't want to be dragging and tearing open the tank on the track.
Also note that you will need an impact bar protecting the tank.

Just a little update....
Thanks to nofords i picked up an ATL fuel cell. I also had my fender and hood painted on my daily RX-7 so i can return the body parts back to my "IT7" car.
I also took the ARE mesh wheels off and went back to the stock GSL-SE wheels.
AND i picked up some 4x110 wheels from YJP that i might just use for "street wheels" on the "IT7" car.

Im going to have them redone, the paint was chipping badly. I was thinking about selling them but im not sure yet.
No, There is a guy across the street from our warehouse in Eastpoint who painted it. He charged me $200 for the hood, fender, and headlight cover. He quoted me $1k to paint the inside and outside of the IT7 car.
Im still waiting on my group c wing and other stuff to come in the mail and then i'll probably tow the car to him.

Im bringing it over to my body guy tomorrow, I'll ask him about making a mold. I want to bring it over when he is done with it so i can see what it looks like on your widebody.
I have been thinking about going widebody lately. all of those E production RX-7's at the runoffs were sweet!
