Nefra's build

Hello! This is my build. A 83 gsl. I don't plan on going super extreme, but I want it to handle on rails and have some nice horsepower numbers. So first thing I did was rebuild the carb, swap fuel filter. I stripped the carb down to basically nothing, and I'm getting rid of the rats best. Here's some pictures. I want to get it running again so I can see what's all broke. I have a msd ignition box and coil, along with new fuel pump and regulator. I'll take pics of that when I start it.

Looks like you have a good base to start with. Look forward to seeing the progress you make.

I cleaned up the carb, and I also deleted all vacuum lines and port such. So I bought these wheels and the lady said it was 4x100.(I know we are 4x110) I put them on my civic with is 4x100 and IT DONT FIT!! So it's 144.3... so for ***** and giggles, I put the new rim on nefra and all 4 studs are in!. I was going to get 1 inch adapters so I can the new rims. I'm waiting for my intake manifold so I can run the car again. I'm trying to get this running fully so I can work on my accord.

Looks like a good project.

Be careful with an aftermarket fuel pump and regulator.... there really isn't any point to get rid of the OEM setup. The Nikki and a Stockport 12A will be happiest with the OEM setup and it will get all the fuel it needs.

These cars have a very small (1/4") factory return line and are very happy with low fuel pressures. Aftermarket pump is a paint to install, setup, and won't be nearly as reliable as an OEM pump.

Are you sure you want to get rid of the rats best <sp>? Some here have regretted doing so. Keep all the parts, just in case.

I already removed it! Lol! Do or die! I still have all the original hardware and lines so if it don't work (don't see why it won't) I'll go back. I ordered more stuff do I can get it on the road. Getting the rotor off is proving to be a pain!

So what do you guys use to remove the intake gasket? It's like a thick plastic type of gasket? Regular razor blade will work?

Do not remove the gasket from on top the plastic carb spacer

I didn't do that. I thought it was kind of weird but I figured it was supposed to be like that so I left it. I started putting it back together. Will upload pics

Carb is back on. Next is fuel lines and vacuum lines for the dizzy. Question. I seen guys hook up both lines from the dizzy to the one port of the carb spacer. Factory has the 2 dizzy vacuum lines running to the 2 left ports on the carb spacer. Would it hurt to join the 2 lines together or should I run it separate like factory? Pros and cons?

So everything is back on. But now I'm not getting spark at the coils. I doubt the ignitors went bad?guess this is time to convert to msd?

You will need to fault trace the ignition system for lack of spark as part of ignition system is needed to trigger MSD box.

Recommend you get the car running in original condition before complicating a no start by adding other components in an attempt to get car running. In stock configuration the original ig system is more than capable of starting/running car.

There are threads I can direct you to on this forum where other members were dealing with problems you are currently having.
Do you have a test light and multimeter and familiar with how to use them?

True. When I first got the car, I could take off the plug wires at the coils and the coils would spark up and you can hear the arching and all kinds of stuff. ONLY thing different from them to now is that the carb is cleaned and the rat next is gone. Plugs for the solenoids are still hanging but they don't need to be plugged into anything as I took everything related off. I put my msd cool on and still no spark. I was going to gut the igniters and solder the pick up end to the plug end and run the msd to that. Effectively making the msd a stand alone system like how I did for my truck so if that failed, I can hook up the factory system. So I'm at the point of gutting the igniters. Getting 12v at the positive wires on both coils. I'm going to check the main coil wire that goes to the dizzy for spark. Will re do retest on everything and will report back. Merry Christmas guys!!

So made some discoveries!! So i thought it was a spark issue, it's not. I believe it's in the carb. I think I'm not getting fuel into the bowls. Jets may be clogged or something. So I'm going to take it back off and do a carb test I found on here. Will report back!!

Yessssss my boy, the rims are soooo fire. An absolute steal!! I need to get these wobble studs and I'm going to run them man. I'll just keep checking them everything time I run the car. I feel like it'll be ok. So the carb is off and it's back into the lab(work table) and I'm going to try taking it apart again.

Nefra is getting a new heart

So quite alot of time has passed since I last updated the thread. So it's taking a major swing. I sold the 12a and I'm swapping in a k24a2 with a s2000 transmission. I'm going with aem infinity ecu. Should be for a fantastic build and even more important, learning opportunity and experience. Im in the process of collecting the parts I need so I can do each stage swiftly and efficiently.
first stage is getting the engine, adapter plate and transmission lined up so I can see where everything sits. So far I have the adapter plate/flywheel and transmission.

Clutch masters flywheel and adapter plate. I have to get the matching clutch. That's going to be the next purchase.

This is the transmission. 2002 honda s2000 ap1. It will get rebuilt with new synchros by yours truly.

This will be a fun journey!

So i purchased a few things since I last updated. I bought the fc subframe and the parts associated with it, well some of them lol. I just bought a rack and pinion from the fc, cant wait for that. I messaged the guy to include the bolts and the brackets since I don't have any of that. i got 4 piston calipers, spindles. I'm going to purchase the caliper rebuild kit as well.

For coilovers, I'm going to use ISC fc adjustable front coilovers, and for the rear, im going to use BC racing rear coilovers. hopefully they will sell me just the rear...

i will include pics once i get the rack and pinion. unfortunately I'm still in the process of stocking up parts so it will probably be some time before you actually see any work being done to the car itself. bear with me please lol!!!!
