Stripped Nikki Photos?

I removed the rats nest, routed all hoses to the proper places i believe... But I am still a little confused about some of the extra crap on the carb. I saw the How-to's by glazedham, but I am looking for actual pictures of the engine bay/carb setup with out any of the unnecessary air tubes, plugs, etc. I want to keep the choke, but nothing else, and switch to mechanical secondaries.... but I want to finish cleaning up the mess of wires/tubes on the carb first.

Damn, you powder coat that yourself? It looks sick. So basically the carb doesn't need any of the extra's on it at all? I see you have everything capped off, with the exception of a couple vacuum lines. But you kept the diaphragm for the secondaries even though you have converted to mechanical? I want my carb looking like that, minus your stunning paint job.

just got to www.srraceenginering.com and you can have the same thing.

My mech. secondary mod is reversable, same as sterling. So I leave the vacuum diaphragm on. And I recently decided to go pre-mixed, so there are no lines running to the carb. anymore. And yea I do the powder coating myself, thanks for the thumbs up!

I would have to see how I like it personally before dropping money on the stock carb. I had thought about eventually upgrading unless the nikki mod's do the trick.

As a Sterling user, I can say you will be nothing but happy with a properly modified Nikki. They just work so well and are extremely easy to tune.

Ok I will give it a shot. What is your take on the choke... I don't plan on racing my 7, just want to make it more fun to drive. Should I keep it? Also I was wondering if the two modules on the air pump side of the carb are expendable. Rat's nest already gone.

Modules? Post pics. You don't need the choke unless you drive in extremely cold weather. I haven't used one in years. I don't even use the fast idle. Just rev the engine up and down between 1 -2.5K rpm for a few minutes before driving to keep it running and help it warm a bit faster. Gentle driving until the coolant gauge reaches normal operating temps and then give 'er ****.

Perhaps module isn't the correct word, just a plug with some tubes coming out of it.

I guess I should just go big or go home, and strip everything off. I don't drive in winter since I'm from buffalo and salt destroys everything here. CobraStngSVT, does your carb output the same as sterlings?

I'm waiting for the bench test numbers but it should be in the same range.

I heard sterling was MIA recently anyways so you are most likely my only other option. Assuming I do get the carb, I would most likely need to upgrade the fuel system right?

Yea, he hasn't done carbs in about a year now. I got into doing them because no one else would...

I would run a better pump and FPR. But I don't know how "necessary" it is.

What exactly would I be removing by getting rid of the rats nest & what's the benefit?

I'd like to keep mine as stock as possible.

The majority of the vacuum lines on top of the engine and all of the solenoids (or most if you want to keep AC) is what you would be removing. Benefit is less weight and less crap to worry about.

Here for rat's nest removal
