my new mint FB

Found this mint 1983 FB. It has 120,000 original KM on it (70,000 miles) and the only issue is the engine "appears" to need a coolant seal based on seller feedback. It was pouring sweet white smoke out the tailpipe at idle and while driving. I did a compression test and all is good. maybe I'll get lucky with intake O'rings? Who knows, I paid my deposit and the seller agreed to keep it stored in his garage until spring.

All original paint, air conditioning, no power windows, never winter driver, nose is perfect as it hid under a nose bra for 20 years..

Notice the perfect original condition of the window trim...

You're Batman, now! Beautiful ride.

If it has a water seal leak, you might want to get it, drain it, and oil fog it before it sits too long. Rust inside the working chambers is not your friend.

Been sitting 14 months already. After doing a compression test i fired it up and it idled "purrrrrfect". No sign of smoke at all, so i suspect the leak only occurs when it is warmed up and the coolant system see pressure.

I already have a well modified FB so I want to maintain the stock appearance of the car as much as possible. Even if I do a 13b transplant I would maintain the rats nest, factory air cleaner, etc etc so all aspects of the car appear unmolested.

I know of a FB I could get for a song with an old school 4 port 13b. Tempted to buy it, do the heart transplant into this one, and sell the shell and weber with lake city intake so the transplant cost is nil. Especially since the 13b has a 13b to 12a manifold adapter so I could retain the nikki on mine.

Start to finish progress pics for sure. Intend on a full compounding and polishing. I may try block seal if it is a coolant seal so I can enjoy the car while I plan and build the replacement engine for it.

My desire, is an old school draw through cartech turbo...then mock up the factory air cleaner to fit so it will perform yet preserve the original factory appearance.

Maybe I'll score a GSLSE suspension swap at the wrecker this winter some time??

Just by coincidence over the past several weeks I scored a sunroof ($30) and wing ($25) from the local pick-n-pull. I do have 2 complete 13b exhaust systems with headers in my shed too. Just need to find that $20 12a header score too!!

Nice. I'm jealous. There was a guy in Canada that had the same color in a GSL-SE with 20K miles asking $12k or so. That was a year ago and I still regret not getting it. Great find. Please leave it stock.

I think it is worth more in stock condition. Doing racingbeat exhaust and streetporting wouldn't hurt though. If I ever find a cartech kit I would retain the stock air cleaner to maintain the sotck appearance. I already have a fast FB.

That looks like my very first FB back in 1991-ish. Same year, Same Color Combination. Mine was a GSL though. Was T-Boned by a drunk bitch 30 days later...

Dude, go ahead and give Alumaseal a shot. It's a radiator sealant, so it doesn't gunk everything up like a block sealant can. I haven't had a single issue with it. 20k and counting, motor still running strong. You can't beat that for $4.00

Here's a thread from the Newbie section, where a couple of more guys have tried it with success: https://www.rx7club.com//showthread.php?t=930506
