Why do you say a bnr hybrid??

I'll be using my turbo. If i'm not happy i'll be looking for something new, but I believe i'll be very pleased with it. I'm using a brand new S4 T2 flywheel. Was given to me so i'm using it.

So, I'm trying to find solutions for a filter to my turbo. Anybody have ideas?? I have only 2.5-3" from turbo to fan.

I don't want to run a efan so thats out. I don't want to run a turbo screen either.

I was thinking maybe have someone who makes turbo screens to put filter inbetween two mesh screens. Seems like it would be very inefficient though. Anybody know what I can do for that??

UPDATE:

Haltech is wired in other than 4 wires which kinda sucks. Guy I had do it went back to Cali and won't be back for a week or two. I might have to do my homework and finish it myself. Thats really the only thing holding me back.. Turbo oil inlet hose is good.

Just need turbo oil drain, battery relocated, guages wired, fluids filled, clutch slave, fuel pump and fpr installed and downpipe to drive to exhaust shop. Thats it!!

Hmm, I'm not sure you're going to find a elbow of any kind that will clear that. Could make something out of sheet metal with a 90* bend to give you room. Again though probably wouldn't be very efficient. I am curious though why you want to keep the stock clutch fan...
Looks like you're getting there though, won't be long now!

I was thinking of making something out of metal also. Like you said, not very effiecient either with the type of bend I would need.

I just don't want to run a efan cause the stock clutch fan has cooled enough for me in 110-120 degree weather with a 28 year old 1 row radiator. Now with a brand new 3 row radiator I don't see any future problems even being turbo. Could be wrong though..

It's just something else that will be added to the list. I'll probably be going to the junkyard to get a efan

I'd be curious to see what kind of coolant temps you are seeing because I've never had a clutch fan keep my cars in what I consider a safe range and it rarely gets over 100 here in the summer.... Maybe I'm overly conservative though...

Better safe then sorry...

I got new a new coolant sensor with the haltech so I'll know exactly once its up and going instead of reading off the unreliable stock guage.

You can get those nice intake elbows on ebay for under a benjie. Wheels are SEX. I love your car. I keep going back and forth on my turbo whether I want to do white or flat OD green (like oldschool fighter/bomber paint).

Any links? I've been looking with no luck.

Thank you!!

I love white in general. Looks cleaner even when dirty...

I actually saw a older Jeep Cherokee today in the exact color your talking about. Looked great too!! I'm biased to formula white though .

I think I'll just get some straight UNI foam filter or such for a quad/atv and cookie cut it to fit the turbo. Put a 3" clamp around it and call it a day..

I'm having a hell of a time finding the actual one I bought (slightly different), and I think the guy I bought from may have stopped selling, but there's one. I could have sworn they were 5-10 cheaper, but I bought mine like 2 years ago..

As for the paint:

Not big on the car or rims, but I like his idea on the color.

Thats exactly what I thought of when you described the paint. The A10 plane lol. Do it!

It'll be awesome and unique.

You might be able to get a 45* elbow on the front of the turbo. You do not want that hot air coming of the radiator. I have my filter right behind the right headlight.

Just get an efan. I mean, how many turbo guys do you see having coolant temp problems that are running efans? If will eliminate all of you problems, release some stress from your motor, and clean up your engine bay. I just don't see a down side. Go to a junk yard and grab the fan off of a taurus of MR2 and call it a day.

I recently grabbed both, but ran the taurus fan as a pusher just because I got it installed easier and faster, but I like how it cleans up the engine bay. Also, my fan came off of a 3.0 taurus, not the typical 3.8. I have only tested it with the car stationary, but it dropped the temps fast and effectively. I will give it a road test soon though.

Thats where I want the filter at. Just need to get it there. I'll probably do an efan. Would still like to run a 45* like you said to get the filter where I want

This is what i'll most likely end up doing. I haven't seen any problems with the efan. I just like using what I have when its perfectly usable and has kept my motor perfectly cool the last 5 years owning the car.

I'm sure theres a ton of taurus cars in the junkyard. I see those ugly *** cars everyday

Thanks guys!

good god damn that engine bay is clean!!!!

that car is going to be a monster, and 250hp with the chassis weight should be plenty for enjoyment and balance. my sc300 has 232hp and that thing is quick and heavy as hell. that fb should dance beautifully

now i kinda wish i was trying to go the turbo route.....

Got some stuff done earlier today.

Figured out a way to get a filter on my turbo. I got a 3" 90* bend(45* wasn't enough, hit radiator). The clutch fan barely hits the elbow. Like 1mm i'd clear it. I'm going to get four .5 - 1" spacers and put them inbetween the main pulley and fan to move the fan forward away from the motor which will give me the clearence needed to fit the filter the way I have it. Gonna notch out radiator shroud and will be good.

Whole engine bay shot, how the car is sitting now. CAS installed, FC coils, and new air filter.

Rest of the wiring will be done weekend after July 4th and tuned. Almost there!!

I also got bored and was trying to find ways to mount my gopro camera to get some in-car videos once running. Mounted it from my glass sunroof with the suction cup it comes with.

Cockpit shot of the interior. Guage layout/ boost/ oil pressure on a pillar and wideband in front of the two a/c vents above center console. I plan on getting a water temp and EGT guage also and adding them right next to where the wideband is.

Fuel pump will be in car tomorrow. Hope to have her going around the 9th. If everything goes right..

Air Temps

I don't know if the air behind the headlamp is much cooler than the air that passes through the radiator. The airflow path is supposed to be through the radiator, then out through the bottom of the engine bay in the zone aft of the crossmember (because the belly pan is in place, right?).

I would expect the zones forward of the crossmember and off to the sides of the radiator to be about the same temp as the air coming through the rad, since it came through the rad in the first place, and it's kind of stagnant there.

Does anybody have any real data on this?

Very good point! It also in a way makes sense that the air coming through the front would give more airflow no? I don't have undertay on, but I will. As Sam has proved with his setup though, the filter behind the headlight is a great spot. He has a very healthy car!!!

I might just run mesh screen with filter under it if i'm not happy with how my filter setup is with the fan on there.

I was looking at my fan today too and I don't even think a taurus efan would fit. I have around 4" from radiator to pulley.
