Oh man - what a great start! This is going to be a sweet little fb.

So.... stupid wide fender flares. I'm intrigued. What you going to tuck inside them?

im thinking now that i want to run some 16x10 diamond racing wheels with 255 or 265 wide tires. im going to try to only stagger offset and not tire size because my last stagger setup pushed the front so easy in hard corners (understeer)

Hmmm good idea. I like it!

Th diamonds aren't my absolute favs, but throw a red stripe on the wheel and I'm a fan

Hey, I read through your TII swap build thread and am using some of the ideas for my own swap which will hopefully start tomorrow with the trailering home of an 87 TII. Just thought I'd check in and say keep up the good work

Thanks Austin! cant wait to see how it turns out for you.

A little update, ive been prepping my interior for the black conversion, i decided it would be easy to buy some of the parts then paint them (carpets, seatbelts etc) a fellow forum member hooked me up from his local upullit and now i have some good black stuff for my interior.

Heres how clean under my carpets is

That's the one thing i've not done in the FB. I dont ever plan on doing it.

ah - first glance i thought the front carpets were cut.

My understanding is its easier to pull the windshield than the dash, and spray from above. Can't speak from experience tho - just passing rumors down the interwebs. I know i've bumped up against that project several times - every time i've backed out cause its so many damned bolts. and hidden bolts behind stuff you can't find.

Yeah it seems shitty to pull the dash but i want to do some re-wiring while im in there, so its gotta come out. i found a thread on nopistons that said you dont have to pull it apart piece by piece, but it can stay mostly intact and be removed. im also going to add relays to the ignition switch so that all the current doesnt have to travel through the switch anymore, and need to feed my battery cable to the engine bay and tuck it nicely.

I've been meaning to rewire mine like that for a while. Just haven't gotton around to it... I've pulled the Dash in my 83's a few times and it's not very hard. I've also pulled the dash in a FC and it also wasn't terrible. The S3 dash shouldn't be all that hard either, I'm sure you can manage it.

Black interior's look great so it'll be worth the effort.

Last night i got the dash out. It wasn't nearly as hard as i thought it was going to be. If i do it again though, i will pull the shifter and combination switch cause getting it out with them there sucked so much.

Damnit dood now you made me want to pull mine What all did it entail? I've already got the shifter and everything off.

Maybe you could show a back pic of the dash and highlight where the bolts are?

I want to get in there and clean out the ducting. First time i opened my vents up i got a face full of dirt. Ew. I'm curious about this ignition wiring. What sort of a relay will you be using? I'd love to see a bit of a writeup on how you dun it. (or is there one you're referencing?)

I'm going to be doing the power window relay while my interior is out for sure. I like the ignition idea.

There is a good thread in the archive about adding relays to the ignition switch here: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-arch...inking-922262/

Oooooh now thats a really good idea. I likey. Where are you sourcing your relays for this? I got my power window relays at O'Reily's for $6 each - not too bad.

I will post more details about the relays when i get that far.

I pulled out the original carpet today and test fitted my black carpet. The new carpet is from an 80 and seems a little too long in the front, i cant seems to pull it forward enough to get the dash mount to line up 100%, but looks good so far none the less, still gotta clean it up more though.

Looks awesome so far! I went out and met with a local RX guy and he has an S2 with the most mint black interior I've ever seen. I don't blame you for going from burgundy to black - especially if you have all the parts.
