GSL-SE Restoration and (inexperienced) Build
Thanks - I just replaced my front struts using KYB. One thing I haven't quite figured out... the manufacturer says Do not add oil, water or liquid to the strut tube. But, practically, most folks add oil or anti freeze to the tube. Is that overkill? It seems that it wouldn't hurt anything, even with gas cartridges, because it would help dissipate heat.

You need to put some ling of lube to dissipate the heat and prevent early failure of the new strut ....read the service manual....it explains it.....
I'm bumping an old thread here just to say that I came across it after hitting Google for "GSL-SE S5 swap". You've done amazing work with this car and reading your journey with it as you developed so many new skills is really cool.
You've done great work with fantastic attention to detail. I hope you're still enjoying the car.
Thanks for sharing all of this.

now that my first diy paint job is finished, i wrote up all the mistakes i made and put them in an album so other people can avoid them in the future!

i've been working hard to track down replacement rubber trim pieces like the taillight seals and windshield trim, and i made a lot of progress. Someone in australia actually reproduces the taillight seals: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...pping-1132923/
i'm still looking for all the fc parts, too! They are surprisingly hard to find
