First Gen Carb Questions

Hello guys I just have a few questions about the carb in my 85 Rx7 GSL. I am having a flooding issue I believe because the car wants to start but just cant get going. Timing and spark are all good. Also you can see on the side where the float bowl window is that its quite full. I've already started taking some of the vacuum tubes out to remove the carb from the engine. I'm wondering If I should do a rebuild the carb I have; or my other option is to pull one off a local car that someone is parting out of. They did say there may be a vacuum leak but what should I look for if I do choose to buy it? Also what do you guys think the reason behind the flooding is? I know a rebuild will do well for it anyway but would it be fixable without taking it out of the car? Is it worth buying a used one that might be better to save time rebuild the one I have + the time waiting to ship the rebuild kit from ebay? Also I may remove the rats nest while I'm at it any tips would be appreciated

If your car is flooding probably is that you have to rebuild your engine. Check your compression before you do anything else. It may save you money in the long run.

I don't agree with Hernan. Flooding issues could be caused entirely by your carb even if the engine is fine. Rebuild your carb first and get rid of any issues with it and then see about the engine. My 2 cents.

I'm gunna second clubber, rebuild the carb and it may solve your problems, also a better fuel pump and pressure regulator can do wonders as stock is just barely adequate. Rebuild kits run like $25 I believe.

I have checked the compression already and that's not the case. The fuel pump seems strong so I don't believe its an issue regarding that, though it might not be regulating very well; how would I go about testing if the fuel presser is okay?
On another note I pulled the carb off today and I'm going to rebuild it, any suggestions were I can find it cheap for a 85 first gen? Also what's the name of the carb on the 85 first gen, is it a nikki carb?

I had a gauge in-line and the regulator is a 1-way valve in the return line for a stock set up.

Found out the issue was that the carb wasn't receiving fuel half the time...
