Why not use expandable sleeving and heatshrink the ends? This is some amateur ****...
Am using heat shrink where I solder the connection as mentioned. This is only temporary...the goal is to get the car running asap. I will then tackle the wiring later on and remove unnecessary wiring...the whole engine harness is still in tact even though I removed the rats nest, etc. I do like the expandable sleeving and thought I may use it later when I rewire but not really feasible unless u start fresh with no connectors and such. Don't worry, it will get done, just not at this moment.

i had to add 2 more wires to my harness so decided to take sirlaughsalot's advice and use expandable sleeving. i will say, this sleeving is pretty darn cool and much easier than wrapping it up with tape (although i wouldn't say using tape is "amateur ****" as that's how mazda did it from the factory...it's definitely an improved way of doing it though).

my father dropped by the house today so used his help to get the hood on. everything fits perfectly and i have about 1/2" clearance between the intercooler pipe and the hood. had to get creative and use my kid's playdoh to measure that =)
and my list:
-figure something out as a coolant tank
-bleed clutch
-bleed brakes
-install front seat
-install stock O2 sensor as well as wideband sensor
-WIRING <-this is the scary one (PFC, alternator, fans, fuel pump, MAP sensor, etc)
-tune PFC
i moved the MAP sensor to the driver's side firewall and redid the wiring for since it would be connected to the same #1 connector on the PFC. the one thing i don't like about this expandable sleeving is that you can't insert wires in existing sleeving (say in the middle of it). i ended up getting 1/8" sleeving this time from Fry's (which btw, is a lot nicer than the 1/4" sleeving I got from Amazon so if anyone is looking to use this expandable sleeving, get it from Fry's) and just running it parallel to the other wires.

Worked on mounting the PFC. Used existing bracket for the GSL-SE Ecu and added an aluminum plate to it for PFC. Then a small bracket to hold it in place.

i believe i'm done wiring inside the car so put things back together. no pics without the carpet cause it's just wiring. but you can see the 2 relays i set up for the fans. still need to run power for the fans but that's in the engine bay.
i do need to build some sort of bracket for the commander though.
wiring is now complete for the most part. took the time during lunch to wire in my electric fans. verified that they are sucking and not blowing. i need to crimp new connectors on my fuel pump wiring and that should be the end of wiring for now.

i was trying to figure out my fuse box and make sure i know what each fuse did (so i can document and store it in the glovebox). got most figured out but had issues with the fuses for the headlights and the retractors. headlights just wouldn't come on and pulling each fuse stopped the retractors from working as well. went inside, looked at the wiring diagram, everything looked good. go back to the garage and try the headlights again but this time, i walked to the front of the car...well guess what, no headlights installed. one of those "doh" moments.

thats a good one!! Ha ha!! It happens. Kind of like the time my buddy Kenny was changing the oil in his car. He poured one, then two, then three, the fourth and final in. As he pulled the dipstick we noticed a rapidly forming puddle creeping out around the car.. we were laughing so hard at him as he's standing in a 1/2" of oil with a stunned look in his eye saying, it's not registering on the dipstick!!! Wtf you guys laugh at?? He stepped back two steps and nearly pissed himself laughing with us as he saw the puddle.
luckily i did not make such a mess...but i have yet to put in fluids, so who knows...lol
fuel pump wiring completed. decided to ground directly to the body instead of relying on old wiring.
noticed i had forgotten to provide power to the injectors so had to run another wire on the passenger side of the engine bay. i did notice the FSM is incorrect...the injectors are powered by the .5sq fusible link (same one powering the coils/igniters), not the .3sq one. i verified this using my multimeter. i pulled it from the B-32 connector on the GLS-SE harness (the yellow/whitish connector on the bottom of this pic.
