The Blue RX7 is reborn!! 56k NO-WAY

Well guys time for an update......

As you know my blue 84 in my sig, ended up like many rx7s due to major rust.....

During the past few months I've been going crazy with trying to get the car going again.

You saw the the car hung on the BBQ, you saw the car getting welded up, now here are some pictures to catch you guys up, all the way to it's current state....

Here goes....

APPLYING THE MAZDA REIGN BLUE

The motor

Suspension in the installation process...

Notice the use of stainless brakelines and all -AN fittings...!!

There are more pictures but I will be posting them throughout the week.

Take care...

Notice the second last picture.... the rear-end pic has a stock rotor to compare the size difference...

Quick question could I swap the watts link for the panhard with the tri-link with this set-up?

two questions:

1. are you putting the erector-set wing on the new one?

2. why do you have the monster-truck style driveshaft brake on it?

edit: either way thats monstrous to have it on the rear!

I'll go out on a limb, and guess the disc brake on the rearend is strictly a parking brake. Since it appears the rear calipers were originally designed for the front, there wouldn't be any type of park brake mechanism.

Looking good, Jimmy.

Yah that is just a sticker i had laying around for the picture...They are the mazda 4piston calipers... Those are 11.75" Discs. I decided on that size as the next size up was nearly 1 pound more! So at the moment it is quite a bit lighter than the stock setup and larger at the same time.

Like rogue wulff said, That is the parking brake on the driveshaft.

To Support 4 piston calipers all the way around i have a dual master setup

it died of cancer, AKA rust.

when i first saw that brake set up on the driveshaft i was like WTF? i didnt even notice the pic of the rear brakes, i thought it was the front. i assumed it was a e-brake set up though. nice and innovative, i like it. will this not effect the length of the driveshaft though? did you get a custom one made? i like this idea. please give more details about it. do you have any pics of your dual MC?

RedFB: This is a Single stage paint, It was a colour used in the 70s By mazda. When properly done, It has some amazing reflections i must say.. Besides the rust work that was done, I also replaced the quarter panel in the picture...

aws140:As far as the driveshaft goes, I havent fitted it up yet. If the disc does cause any issues, i will cut the yoke down slightly. The disc is very thin, so we will see! No pics of the Dual MC yet, i just finshed setting up the balance bar, and once i install them in the car i'll post up some pics.

flight_of_pain: Those bars you see are to replace the factory sheet metal ones that were there before. I had to remove them to properly work in the area..

Max7:I cant even imagine how many hours i've spent! LOL... Now lets hope that the motor can justify such a brake setup! lol
