those parts look good all painted up.

 

painted parts really make a world of difference. it took some time to get all of the parts blasted up and poweder coated and por15'd. the effort paid off though, imo because the parts will last for many many more years.

if you ate your wheaties, you can unbolt it, and push down and turn em without having to unbolt anything else

 

it'll give me something to check tomorrow.. i should be able to tell if one side is lined up differently than the other. i didn't even think to check to see if they could be turned or not. i thought they were square. worst case, i have a friend who is a truck driver that is 6'4" and weighs close to 300lbs that has dumb gorilla like animal strength that i know ll be able to assist me in pushing down on the struts with control arm while i turn the mount..

 

LOL dumb gorilla strength. Yeah those tops are offset, you should definatly take a look and make sure they are pointed back and in to get max caster and camber (all .5 dergrees of it lol)

you car will come together. i'm constantly putting time and money into this car to improve what i didn't do initially. its been a great car and has given me zero problems.

 

I wish I could say the same for that "Zero problems" Statement... hah.
My 7 has had nothing but issues.

 

they're always a work in progress. i'm always working on something. nothing is ever perfect, lol. the GS still needs paint and i need to swap in the disc brake rear i got from 82transam..which will also require new calipers, rotors, and e-brake cables.. time and money my friend. i have almost $3500 in this car and its still not done. paint and the rear end will put me closer to $4500..then it should be complete..should, lol.

 

I noticed that rear breaks only came on the GSL SE. Made me curious if it's possible to get rear breaks installed and function in tandem with the front.

I'm suuuper impatient with cars unfortunately... it stumbles me to a point.. buying things I don't need, rushing processes...
I'll probably keep exterior work to a minimum at this point. I pulled the pass fender, and swaped it for one I painted that was in better condition. I really just want mine running, running reliably, and get a deck wired it because that's something I know how to work with heh.

not sure if you mean that you are under the impression that the GSL-SE was the only FB to have rear disc brakes... if so then know that every GSL from 1981 onward also had the rear disc brakes and limited slip differential. the rear discs were solid and the SE's are vented and are larger.

 

I didn't think about the fact that GLS SEs actually came with rear brakes. I just assumed you were modifying your 7 so that you could use rear brakes. My thought was about the possibility of doing that to a GS or GSL - installing rear brakes.

 

next order of business that i hope to accomplish over the winter will be the mood idler arm and new inner and outer tie rods. then i can have it aligned and extend the life of my tires!

I swapped the pumpkin resulting in my SA looking "correct" as I maintained drum brakes but have LSD ... just tossing it out there

 

if it were a factory correct restoration, i would probably do that. seeing at its kind of a restomod, i'll take the increased stopping power. very good suggestion though!!

 

i think that's why i like this car so much, it almost IS factory correct. actually its more like a factory correction....

 

i really appreciate the compliment Mike!! i agree that its an upgraded stock FB. i wanted to add the best of all FB years and models into a light non sunroof chassis... though i think i would prefer a sunroof in hindsight..

 

yeah it might make it a nicer cruiser...

 

It's one of the nicer FB's I've seen and had the chance to drive thats for sure Dave. If you ever sell it I call dibs lol.
