about time, yes. i haven't done any serious car work since i got the Camry updated last fall.. that car put my other cars on the back burner unfortunately. now that its good and things have settled down, i can finally start concentrating on the GS again!

went out and took the 7 for a drive today and snapped some pics that i wanted to share:

 

sad to say that i am still using this car on nice days with a dry road. would have like to store it for teh winter but that was not the case this year unfortunatly..

 

pulled in the driveway the other evening and when i stopped the car i saw this..kinda neat:

 

got a lot of the interior apart currently. some mice got in it and they ruined some wiring, and have defiled the clean smell of the car... engine runs like crap at anything over half throttle and the idle is hit or miss. i have some work to do..

 

The good news is that the car is in the good hands of an expert!

Having idle issues with my car though. The engine will start and idle roughly. It seems as though its not getting enough fuel. If I depress the plunger on the TPS, the engine's idle will increase and smooth out and run normally. Sometimes if i run the engine at half throttle, it will smooth out and run to redline at half throttle. Full throttle causes the engine to stumble. I have replaced the following parts with no change in running condition:

-ecu and surrounding sensors
-tps
-afm
-cleaned the air filter, tube in front of the radiator, and ruber intake boot
-cleaned the throttle body
-replaced the exhaust with a system with gutted cats to test for restriction issues

I cleaned the wiring to the ecu and surrounding sensors and replaced all of the surrounding sensors with known good units. The injectors were cleaned and tested by witchhunter in 2009. I pulled the dynamic chamber and upper intake manifold off and inspected the wiring and the injectors an all appeared to be good condition. The engine has ran perfectly since i swapped it into the car in 2009. The car got some mice in it and this is when it started running funny. I have pulled the enterior out and cleaned all of the nests and scrapped the fabric sound deadening. i did not see any chewed wiring. I have not adjusted the other tps that I installed and will not until I figure out what's going on. The other tps would cause the idle to smooth out near instantly when the plunger was depressed. The one I installed takes a few seconds of full plunger depression before the engine decides to run well.

Well, that decent weather came and my RX-7 is back up and running well. Mike (myfree7) was here to witness this epic event and we even went for a quite spirited drive! Time to replace the exhaust and go back to my stock setup. I will be posting more pics of the car. But for now:

Found the issue to be traced to a faulty leading coil. It tested good originally but showed its true colors during a flooding incident while diagnosing the rough running issue on Friday. Replaced both coils with new oem Diamond coils and the replaced and adjusted the TPS. I adjusted the idle and mixture and the engine runs better than ever. So today, I took gave the car a bath and took it for a short drive and snapped a couple pics. Here's what I wound up with:

Well the clear is shot so the wet sanding and buffing did not help matters much. The car needs paint anyways so I'll just end up going that route this summer hopefully.
