wiring

More wiring. Now I can't find sunroof clips/hinges. Black Dragon did have them but it looks like they are no longer available.

My girl friend is really getting into working on the car.

Motor

Ok, guys this is where it gets fun. I don't think it's a surprise that I went V8. I got a 4 bolt main engine for 400 bucks with less than 10,000 miles on a rebuild. Hard to ignore that much torque for that price. Anyway here is a mock up motor so I could tack in the motor mounts.

getting there

Not too many more parts to clean and restore. Got the trans cleaned up and the carb rebuilt. Getting close.

I have a condition!

I just can't leave well enough alone. I had the motor mounts all tacked in and after some contemplation I decided to drop the rack and pinion as low as possible so I could sit the engine a little lower in the car. So, I cut the old mounts off and lowered them. Looks alright and lowers the rack about an inch. NOW, it's time to get the drivetrain in.

I suffer from the same deal. The way I look at is if I don't fix something when it is easy it will just mean more work later.

Door panels are figured out. Next warm weekend I'll weld in the motor mounts.

getting close

started the motor! 10 years I've waited to hear that sound. now it's brakes, coil overs and exhaust. I have a little more wiring to do as well. I was afraid the brakes wouldn't fit inside my 15 in wheels but they just clear so all is well.

Awesome! That's a big milestone there.

Mind taking a few more pics of the underside of ur hood? Just wondering about the structural integrity. Also, just noticed ur door panels...did u do that yourself or are they the t3 ones?

It is amazing, but how long it takes is up to the builder. Admittedly I didn't attempt a custom widebody, but I did a complete re-engineer to driveable with new paint in less than a year. It's mostly about your drive and monetary priorities versus your ambition and talent. If you put most of your earnings toward a family, or don't want it bad enough to work a 40-hour job, then it will take longer. If your ambition exceeds your talent, then it will take longer.

Absolutely!

Ignore this guy (quoted text below), he obviously has it too good in life to understand what a longer build feels like when you want to do things right and have other obligations to deal with. Phenomenal work.
