So my long awaited shipment arrived last week. Still have a few more things coming in, but here is a sneak peak of just some of the goodies going on the car in December as I finally get some time to put it on the lift and get some work done!

Tanabe Medallion showed up today too. Went to the local C&C today and got a hook-up on a welder for some stuff I need done and looks like should be getting to work on the car this coming weekend.

Started pulling the FD apart.

Little before shot of the engine bay.

Finally going to clean up this little
bit of surface rust caused by the battery.

One of the great things I noticed when I bought the car was that the 99spec bumper was done properly with all the ducts and air guides.

Pulled the catalyst and catback. Putting a Bonez catalyst on with a new Tanabe Medallion. Hoping to quiet the car down. Seeing the factory JDM downpipe, on the fence about buying an HKS. However, don’t want to risk breaking a stud.

Some of the exhaust gaskets were toasted.

Engine bay after some work. Next up is the GReddy VMIC.

Love the quick jack. Have to remove the front bumper tomorrow.

Just continuing on with my build. My RX-Lights LED headlights arrived. These are the OEM+ version. I can't wait to get them installed.

Some progress has been made on the VMIC install.

The kit is 90% installed. There were some differences between the Version 1 and Version 2 kit that made some issues with battery relocation. So I'm working through that issue now. Additionally, I pulled my Upper Intake manifold so I could check the health of some hoses and install new spark plug wires. Also installed my HKS Twin Power. When I pulled the UIM, I snapped a check valve and @DaleClark was to the rescue with some Viton check valves. New hoses will arrive today to spruce up the toasted hoses. Most of the hoses on my car have been replaced. Oddly enough, they say in both English and Japanese that "this hose has been replaced from original" and is much higher quality than the factory hoses.

Then when installing some of hoses I snapped my double throttle solenoid. So, another rabbit hole led me to go ahead and remove the double throttle actuator and drill out the double throttle plates. Luckily I already had a full suite of block off plates from @Banzai-Racing.

This week hoping to get my Bonez cat welded with a new Wideband O2 bung and get some other items cleaned up. I also installed my R-Magic 99 spec Oil Cooler ducts. I'll post those up next update. Fitment is amazing.

Also have a few things arriving this week and some surprises coming!

Thanks for sharing your continued progress.

I am looking for this brace, or to, at least , fabricate a replacement. I suspect your car might actually have one.

When you next have the door card off, could I oblige you for some pics, or even the dimensions?

very nice build. i have always had a soft spot for the earlier RZ models. very low key models that at the time no-one knew they existed !

whats the direction of your build?
keeping the twins? going single?

My car does in fact have that brace. I will be doing the speakers on the car, so that door card will be off sometime this week and I will snap some photos for you.

My build is OEM++ I guess you could say. I plan to keep the twins sequentially. I'm still running stock fuel system and plan to keep the car under 12lbs of boost. I've owned single turbo, non-sequential, RX-7s in the past and I've always gotten far more enjoyment out of a good running sequential system. Not trying to win any drag races.

Three D scan would be nice. Three D print even nicer!

Those knee pads are often for sale, but likely without the brace.

The brace is not shown in the parts manuals (that I have).

Door plastics creak without it, from the pressure of the knee.

Installed my LED headlights. Made sure nothing was kinking up but haven't been able to power anything yet. My Antigravity ATX30HD arrived. Still waiting on the battery cables and the ZPrecision Bin Mount for it. The LED lights are very OEM+ looking. Can't wait to dial them in. Lighting will be seriously improved.

Completed the GReddy VMIC installation. I took the AST that came with the kit to a welder and had him shut the extra nipple. For whatever reason, GReddy made it with an extra nipple that you are just supposed to cap off. I think that's ugly and stupid.. so problem fixed. Additionally, since I'm not running an air pump, I also had the lower intake pipe welded shut and removed the pipe that would have been sticking out. Much cleaner.

A picture of the front bumper on with the R-Magic 99 Spec oil cooler ducts. The fitment is so perfect. Also, during installation it is quite interesting how you form the bumper around the lip of the duct to get a complete seal.

Now for the surprise goodies... SHINE AUTO Carbon Fiber everything. In the box:

CF Twill Odula Wing
CF Twill 99 Spec Front Lip
CF Twill FEED Skirts
CF Twill RE2 Street Rear Diffuser.

Odula Wing Mounted. Sorry for the bad picture but was too excited. Better ones later once the car is running!

Fitting the 99 spec lip in CF. Will fit perfectly once the under tray is back on. The quality of the SHINE AUTO stuff is just spot on. The lip comes with all the factory holes etc for mounting. It is pretty much an exact replica except that it is missing the tabs that insert into the bumper.

Not pictured but I installed my Bonez high flow cat and new Tanabe Medallion Single Tip Exhaust. The interior is out of the car to prepare for the battery relocation. Installed the speakers already and hopefully get this thing back together by the end of January and back on the road.

We are going to have the exact same setup pretty much haha. I’m buying the same relocation kit as well. Did you buy the right side (passenger) or left bin (driver). I want the right side but the disconnect switch isn’t available.

Build looks great !

I bought the RH side since it will be behind my driver seat. I like having access to my LH bin for storage. Plus the RH is locking bin. I’m running a 150amp breaker with mine so that will have a off switch.

So a small update before all the way better photos start to show up!

Replaced this janky mirror that came in the car. As you can see it was starting to get nasty. @ray crowe hooked it up with some nice new shiny parts. I've ordered a good bit of new hardware, interior clips, etc from Ray and it has always been a quick and easy transaction!

Installed my FEED door scuff plates finally. They look so good in the car and compliment the interior very nicely. They are very well made and have foam backing on them, as well as predrilled holes for the factory screws. You don't have to worry about using double-sided tape or anything to install these. Can't recommend them enough!

Just a shot of my @shineautoproject Hybrid Carbon RE-2 Diffuser. Going to be installing this badboy this weekend along with the FEED side skirts. I've already got the Odula wing insert and 99 spec hybrid carbon fiber front lip installed. Fitment has all been great so far.

So what's next? My brakes should be here this weekend. I'll be installing those and getting the RX-7 back on the road at that point if the weather cooperates. It has been very rainy and cold (30s-40s) here in Florida. I know for some of you, that isn't cold. However, when you're used to 80-100 degree weather, working in a cold garage sucks.

The RX-7 is running, coolant is burped, the ATX30HD battery is installed with the Z-Precision battery tray in the driver bin. LED Lights from RX-Lights are in.
Also put in a @garage alpha rear trunk mat, which is so nice to have. It really updates the interior feel of the trunk. I can't wait to get you guys more photographs! The quality will be better once the car is out of the garage and I can really show her off. I'm excited for the new brakes to show up too. I think you guys will like them. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

I'll need to get one of these for sure.
I also would LOVE if I could get a billet power steering pulley!!! I know you only have them in sets and sometimes you have them individual on e-bay. Happen to have a silver one laying around?
