Why don't you degrease the area and start the car, wedge a little bit of cardboard between the line and front cover for a second and see what side you have oil on.
Awesome job by the way. Wish i would have had such a welder buddy to help me out on little things here and there. Looks great so far congrats on a successful conversion (other than the leak of course)

so i spent this evening trying to track down the leak..removed the intake/intercooler piping & the power steering / air con belts etc, ran the car a few times, turned it off etc. now im even less sure where its coming from
(well I dont think its coming from the place where I drew the arrow anyway)
it now appears to be coming straight out from behind the main crank pulley, then runs down from there & also sprays everywhere..
Is that a thing? Can it leak from behind the main pulley like that?
I tried covering the areas where I thought it was coming from by stuffing rags in there etc which didnt change anything, so yea pretty sure its coming from right behind the main pulley.
cheers

Sweet, im pretty positive that's where its coming from then. Was getting expensive keeping it topped up with oil trying to figure out where it was coming from, lol.
Do you mean its not such a horrible job? (wohoo if so!)
Gonna start researching the job now
edit; front main seal ordered, will pick it up from Mazda this arvo or tomorrow and (hopefully) have her back on the road in no time.

So I noticed you got locktite did you use this on the fuel rail fittings?..
Also didn't realise you need to change the o rings on the ID2000 injectors! I left them as they where so I better change them pronto.

Hey there, sorry just saw this now. Yes I used loctite hydraulic fuel sealant on the fittings. I forgot the number of the loctite, but it might say it in the thread somewhere, otherwise ill have a dig around home and find it if your still wondering.
And yep, you need to do as pictured if your using the FFE rail with their lower inserts.
On another note. Everything is still fine a few months after replacing the front main seal with the engine in the car.

So I had a bit of fun driving home from work on Friday..the heater core (or one of its hoses) exploded in the dash and pissed hot coolant all over the passenger side floor, while proceeding to spew out white steam from inside the car/dash board...Was not laughing at the time, but I laugh thinking back about how that must have looked...
Pulled into some shops, luckily right outside a beer shop..so at least I was able to drink a cold beer while I waited for tools/help to arrive and pondered what to do..
Was easy enough to sort out, I just cut the heater out of the system. Luckily I had replaced the big heater hardline with a long rubber hose and rerouted it when I did my single conversion. So it was just a case of disconnecting the one on the firewall and plumbing it to the engine...
I dont think im going to bother fixing the heater core...no AC..only seems fitting to have no heater as well lol.

Its been a rough couple of weeks for me and the FD. Today I think my alternator died on the way to work.
Have not tested it yet but im pretty sure that's the problem. Car died in traffic. Managed to get it started again and got home. Lucky was only about a minute from home. Charge light, oil light & coolant light all on. We had some crazy rain yesterday as well so maybe some water got in somewhere.
On the bright side. That was the first time in about 8 years that the car has ever just turned off on me. Iv had many problems over the years but the car had ever never shut off on me. (not the first time iv killed the alternator either)
Ah the life of the DD'd FD..

Yep its back on the road. I had two dead alternators so i sent them to to a local place to get refurbished as opposed to gambling on another second hand one..
It was the regulator that was dead on both of them..(supposdly its one of the most common mitsibishi regulators so is an easy fix). I just got one of them fixed. (I sent them both incase parts were required from both to make one good one)
it costed me $180nzd to get the new regulator, brushes, bearings and whatever else they do to make it new Turn around time was overnight so that was sweet. good service.
I don't have a second car anymore...ill try use my girlfriends car to go to the shops etc and use my car for work...
When SHTF and I cant take my car to work, fall back is getting dropped & picked up from work by the girlfriend or borrowing my grannies car
when shes down she generally dosnt stay down for long though

Well, its with great sadness that I would like to announce that my car was stolen in the early hours of Sunday morning..
It was towed away, from down a 100m or so long gravel driveway...
If anyone sees any parts for sale that you think may have come from my car (some parts are very recognisable / one-offs), it would be much appreciated if you could let myself or the NZ police know..
Thanks...this will probably be the end of my dabbling in the rotary. Car was not insured for theft and this just makes me think that its just not worth it to have nice things, as some low life scum will steal it for their next fix.
Lets pray that Karma pays them a visit and sends some extreme hardship their way. (or worse)
RIP my faithful stallion...
