Talking 94 Build... GT35R, RE Vmount and a whole lot more............ NOW WITH PISTONS!!

The time has finally come to post my build thread as it comes to a relative end. I have been holding off as I wanted to post my dyno'd numbers at the same time. I pulled the engine and transmission in June to start a single turbo project. I had completely finished the chassis preparation a few months before.

With the chassis prepped & ready to rock, it was time to start buying parts & disassembling everything for the big swap. Below is partial list of everything that went into it. I'll label the pictures with what parts were used & what was done. It's been one hell of a project, but I am nothing short of ecstatic with the results. The car is an absolute blast with room to grow.

Vendors
Rotary Extreme - Ben from RE provided such an amazing service. Helpful, tentative, and an overall joy to work with. His Vmount kit is absolutely beautiful and it was a real joy doing business with such a caring vendor. If you are considering his kit or any part he sells, buy with confidence people. The guy is just awesome to work with.

SpeedOne - Dave tuned my car and did a GREAT job doing it. I can not say enough good things about him, his shop, and his service. He literally talked me through setting my car up over the phone enough to safely drive it to him for the tune. He took his time, did it right, and was very professional. I plan to take it back to him when the meth kit goes on. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about the entire experience!

The day before I pulled it...

Pulling the engine & transmission.....

Stripping everything down....

Single turbo wiring harness conversion...

Battery Relocation & gauge install....

Final Thoughts....

I couldn't be happier with the results. My power levels for a stock port engine are quite good. The car is VERY quick but controllable. It lights up my 285's 1st through 3rd, but the spool is so fast & smooth that it's very drivable. I do plan to run 50/50 meth with a retune. I'm not shooting for the stars but would like a nice cushion with pump gas.

I am now focusing on having the car repainted, & finishing some aesthetics that are long overdue.

Amazing project, it must be very satisfying to essentially do it all yourself and see the results with each step. Are you doing the bushings as well or is that done?

Nice build man! Your threads always have great pictures... I like how your torque jumps to 300 by 4500 and stays flat...what A/R are you running? I know you got stock ports but do you think that filter is also limiting flow above 6500rpm?

pretty respectable numbers!

what size 35R?

I agree with Pandaz that the filter on the turbo may be limiting hp..... ever consider running just a stainless screen?

What ECU are you using?

Yes, all suspension was completed last winter through the spring. I used the PowerFlex kit & couldn't be happier with the results. Very quaility bushings.

My 35R is a T3 1.06 a/r. The spool is pretty amazing. The thing builds boost almost instantly. Since my plan was to build a viscious street car, I used the turbo & Vmount combo to make a fast spool while still have the ability to make good numbers.

Dave did do a pull with the filter removed as we discussed it's possible limiting factor. It made absolutely NO change. Honestly, we were both a bit surprised, but I definitely wasn't going to complain. We both did agree however that when I start to turn up the boost later, it could become a hinderence.

As far as a screen goes, never on a street car. I have looked at other options when the time comes, but that will be awhile.

I am using a PFC for EMS.

Thank you all for the kind words. I've been waiting to make this thread for quite some time. It's always great to share my work & thoughts with this awesome community.

^ Hmm well it is nice to know that this filter isn't restrictive for the up to 400rwhp range. Nice build by the way!

Hell yea!!! So i ended up going with the Super-pro kit because I really wasn't to confident in the reliability of the other bushings... although nice.. I didn't want to wait and feel like i might get cheated or anything. The horror stories on the group buys was the culprit haha.

We did a pull without an air filter near that size and it surprised us too that it was only worth 5rwhp past 6k rpms @ 450rwhp. BTW what is the part number on that air filter if you wouldn't mind
