What made you start tearing the car down? I mean it looked beautiful before...the engine bay, the exterior looked amazing. I wish my engine bay looked like yours did. What are those two filter looking things on the intake pipe, right before the tb?

Great job, I can't wait to see what she will look like when you finish.

P.S. How did you get the mazda letters to stay white on the calipers? I want to do the same thing and I was thinking of painting them and then using like 120 grit sand paper, working my way up to 1000 grit.

Ghost,

I started to tear it down after my coolant seal went out (2004). I already had a spare engine built just in case and thought I could drop it in in 2 weeks (ask SPOautos.. he still laughs about it). But that two weeks turned in to over 2 years. But another thing that kind of hindered me was that a local AL rotary guy was selling his MB FD and I decided to buy it. It ran great and now I had an FD to drive around..

Regarding the caliper letterings... Well, First set, I did it using a small sand paper and sanding it down.. These new sets, I used a dremel with rotating sand paper. I had much better control and I think it turned out better... But the surface is rougher but looks better.. Thought about using a finer grid and eventually to polish, but I said F*ck it!.. Don't know how long it will last though.

If you are referring to the PPF (Power Plant Frame), Mazdaspeed has one which is supposedly 20% stronger than OEM.

Alright folks. This thread is now back (for the discussion of herblenny's FD buildup). Vendor feedback issues ARE NOT to be made in this thread.

Herblenny - clean out your PMs. Too full.
In this thread, you may post a link to your vendor feedback experience. But that is all I want in this thread, as this thread is about your buildup.

Anyone wishing to comment about the vendor feedback issues, can post in his vendor feedback thread. Just not in this one.

Thanks.

Probably not.. Just an enthusiast.. But do we really need 1?

I recieved an email from David (Widefoot) and he has one set left in Billet ($260). I'm buying it and he's sending it off sometime today. He said he has few sets of case ones for $195.

Stick to OEM or Go with CF overlay or 94 texture or current vinyl CF overlay?

My vote is for stock. I am seriously thinking about putting one coat of clear over the pieces that I was going to do the CF overlay on. I'd still prefer CF obviously, but where can you get quality pieces? I don't have the time to try and learn myself. I figure the clearcoat is a good fix for now. Good luck Phil. Let me know if you find an alternative CF solution.

Brent

I just got some more goodies..

Racing Beat Sway bar from RX7store.net!

Jason from www.RX7Store.net was able to get the Racing Beat Sways slightly cheaper than Racing Beat. Racing Beat themselves have also told me to get it from someone else..

So Go buy it from Jason (RX7store)!
