Thumbs up

Rich as always you do great work. Though I have to say the intake is a bit weird. I can't for the life of me think of where else it could go, which probably the same for you, hence its location. You still have stock headlights don't you? Not criticizing, just trying to think of a better place. It's a great idea, just looks a bit out of place. Anyways, nice build.

lol, how come no write-up for the "installed new rotor shaped valve stem caps"??? I've been looking for this write up, and oddly no one has one!!

Nice work Rich, keep it coming...

Well, I'm not really too excited about the aesthetics of it, maybe that's why you've never seen one like it before

I havent gotten a chance to drive the car with the new shield, but just idling (similar ambient temp) the IATs dropped about 8-10 degrees.

My old motor was making right around 100 psi on all faces. It wasn't torn down.....I resealed the front cover and oil pan and sold it to a local guy, we recently got his car running with the 'old' new engine

Sounds good Rick, hopefully we can sort out the erratic idle issue

Yup, still stock headlights. It's function over form at this point, the nice thing is I can very easily move in a different direction.

The engine now has over 1000 miles on it and is almost ready to be tuned

Also, on the road the heat shield works pretty well, intake temps are consistently 8 to 10 degrees C cooler

I like it, but there sure isn't much space for air coming off the radiator!

Pics of some goodies I recently received in the mail

Not sure if the JDM center console and shifter panel will work in a USDM car but I intend to find out. I know it'll allow me to run the Spirit R e-brake handle without modifying the base collar.

Front and rear tow hooks, not sure if I can install the front one due to the mesh in my radiator opening, but I already ordered the oem tiedown hook from Ray that the rear hook bolts to.

Some of the chrome parts are for my FD and a customer's FD, some of them are available.

Last pics are a new service offered by BDC, throttle body porting. I believe it's around 150 bucks or so, he's been doing it for FC guys for years. Also I had my polisher do something a bit different and nickle plate all of the linkage, it looks great in person

Edit: I need Theorie to snap shots for me, as this Canon digital takes some ***** pics

Mr. Richard that RHD tranny tunnel cover will not fit....just go out to your car and look how it lines up with the AC panel. The RHD one leans to the right, ours leans to the left.

Yeah, there's gonna have to be some major cutting/remolding/reupholstering to make that work. It can probably be reshaped with a bit (ok, a lot) of FG work. I'm doing something like that; trying to integrate a RX8 lower center consol in the the FD.

yeah that's definitely not gonna work rich. i was actually looking at this the other day since mine is so beat up...the RHD wont work on the LHD...bummer.

also, the one you have picturd is for an FD with back seats i believe...it doesn't look the same as the one in our non-backseat cars.

I'm interested in seeing those tow hooks fit too. I also have a 99 bumper with mesh installed. So I'd like to see if it would work prior to purchasing a set of my own.

Yup, I'm aware that the center is made for the back-seat version of the FD.... I am going to see how it looks in my car, if it exposes part of the tranny tunnel I may cover it in carpet. I've always thought it was a pretty cool piece. I picked both pieces up for next to nothing so figured it was worth it to get them to fool around with, if you know what I mean

Re: the tow hooks, I probably will end up selling the front one. I'll report on my findings.

G, will call ya. I am on vacation, sorry I didnt pick up yesterday. My guy can provide nickle, copper, and bronze coatings as well as the chrome. It can take a while, but I know you're used to waiting for yummy goodies.

Also (to update the thread) I ordered a new steering wheel and hub assembly, and am speculating on a quick release.

Nardi 350mm deep corn in leather w/red stitching:

I have to thank Gordon and Scrubby for the inspiration, I think I'm going to love this wheel.

Looking into either a Works Bell setup or the Tekniq street (thanks Damian), the WB is quite a bit pricier.

I also have some FEED (replica) parts coming in the mail...... adjustable rear wing as well as FRP side steps. I've been on the fence re: these parts for a while but decided to take the plunge as I can always switch back easily. I was happy to learn the FEED wing bolts up to the factory R1 wing mounting location.

This pic courtesy of one of our customers is what sealed the deal for me:

The engine has somewhere around 1000 miles on it. Plan is to get Kahren to central NJ sometime in mid to late September and get the car street- and dyno-tuned.

Wheel looks great Rich. Mind if I ask why you went with Leather over Suede? I've been looking at this wheel for my FB for a while and can't decide between the two materials.
