I stumbled upon this thread while searching for something (I usually stay in the first-gen section) and I have to say that this car is amazingly awesome. Keep up the good work.

I've slowed things down a bit when it comes to the rx7, since its finally in a driveable state I have all the fixings to work on the differential now - new final drive, bearings, seals, greddy diff cover, to go along with the carbonetics 1.5 way carbon lsd....but I've yet to schedule an installation time with Kaaz. Instead, I'm waiting on getting the new version Feed hood first, and having that painted, as well as getting a carbon underpanel on the car since its open and free right now, the old stocker was trashed for this.
On another note, I switched from my cruddy coverage w/ 21st century insurance, and went with Hagerty. Sent them the mandatory pictures, and attached a detailed excel spreadsheet w/ all parts, descriptions, market price, and got full coverage on that sucker for not much more $ than I was paying before w/o optional equipment coverage. Great customer service too, they followed up on my application at least twice by phone - and were pretty quick about it too

Other notes: They require the car to be kept in a building, be it a garage, barn...etc. Another limiting factor is that they only offer coverage to the same $$$ as whatever your primary vehicle is covered by its own insurance - so if your primary car is only covered 50/100/50, then that will top off you Hagerty coverage of the fd. However, if your primary car is 100/300/300, then your Hagerty coverage on the fd will bump up accordingly.

Another note - the Atomic Rex rack is great now that the car's been aligned. When I had slapped everything back together initially, the tow was so off! It made it real tough to turn, and I wasn't sure if it was just because of the rack or not. Now I know, it's not the rack
Toughest part is just that initial movement from a dead stop. As long as the car is just even inching along, steering feel is great and easy to turn. Lots of feedback.

No real update yet, but took home the Flir thermo camera from work to learn how to use it, and got some shots of the car. Realized I should have set the temp scale higher, it maxed out at 302F because I forgot to change the range. Very expensive camera...and I realized there's a lot of adjustments to make for each image in order to pull temperatures correctly. You have to correct for ambient T first, and then adjust for the correct emissivity of each surface...still, had some fun, and got some interesting shots!

A bunch of process improvements and facility analysis for large industrial and commercial customers. So I'd use it mostly for steam systems, hot water systems, ovens, furnaces, kilns...

I'll try and get a post up sometime end of this month....I've got a new carbon feed hood painted on the car, waiting on some black anodized J's racing hood pins, and need to take care of a torn rear axle boot. Carbonetics 1.5 way carbon lsd and the 4.44 final drive have been installed. I'll get some pics up of that too, it was installed by Kaaz USA's owner himself, Ray
Other than that, I closed escrow on a house earlier this month, so I've really been working to prep the garage first (gotta prioritize!)

Timeout: prepping a new home for the fd (and me!)
So, the house closed late June. Its August, and I'm still not moved in yet....but we did prioritize, and went with epoxying the garage first
Unfortunately, we've a 2 car garage instead of 3....but at least the driveway's nice and flat! Once the fd moves in, I can finally slam that sucker!
The garage cement wasn't in too bad condition, but there were definitely still some stains, oil spills, and dirt that were visible.
Few more pictures as-is:
As you can see...we already added the painter's tape to start.
Everybody who's done this has emphasized on prep work if we want to make sure the epoxy sticks proper, so tons of elbow grease ensued. Lots of initial sweeping, leaf blowing, washing by water, and then two batches of cement etchant acid wash. Then cement sealer on some cracks, and going over the surface to scratch off any loose cement at the corner and smooth things down. Waited for everything to dry for a few days, leaf blower-ed the floors again...I think the difference was pretty noticeable!
We used 3 gallons of flannel grey Quikrete 2-stage epoxy, with the anti-slip additive. Was way easier doing this with 2 people, since the epoxy starts to harden fairly quick.
Unfortunately, I've been stuck waiting for the epoxy clear to be delivered, so we still can't park the cars yet! :cry: but it's progress!
Small update on the car coming soon...but I unfortunately have not been very diligent about bringing a camera around with me to catch all the action :/
