Hi everyone. Wanted to say: 1) did sell the car 2) the new owner is parting it out.
Why did I do it?
To be honest, I've just really had a change in priorities.
Frankly I haven't had as much time to work on this car as much as I would have liked for the last year and a half. And upon some extended reflection, realized I wouldn't have much time STILL to set aside to finish the car. The idea of selling it to Fritz has been rolling around in my head since Jan-March when I was contemplating selling the rx7 and buying Fritz' GT3RS. I was too slow to pull the trigger on the GT3RS before it sold to someone else, and since then - I had been entertaining the idea of buying something else. Just so happened another car caught my eye recently, and I pulled the trigger to sell the RX7 and get a new car.
Why don't I want to finish building the rx7?
Career enhancements, house renovations, marathon training, rock climbing, wedding planning, autoXing my other cars, social life....just tons of things keep getting in the way. Haven't even been able to use the 168 hrs of vacation I've accumulated this year because I've been too busy. Working on a car is just last of my list. It's not as cathartic as some of my other options.
So. I had an opportunity to get a good deal on an 06 Lotus Exige with entry level track mods done to it....and it made sense because 1) its ready to rock and roll 2) street legal so i can stop worrying about cops and tickets every time i took it out 3) smoggable, so i dont have to worry about spending serious dough and doing a lot of work to renew registration every 2 years 4)better resale-ability if i chose to move on again in another few years.
that said, i still plan to visit the rx7 forum daily. might pick up another one and keep it mild and stock down the road. but for now, it makes sense to change my pace in cars. the rx7 was really just one big chunk of decoration taking up a garage spot since i never had time to commit to it, and was tired of sinking money into it. i did get a magazine feature to immortalize the car, but won't announce more info on it until i know when it will be released

Very understandable reasons and most apply to me as well, at this point I do the minimum to keep my car track ready because if I tear it down for anything major I feel it will never go back together another time. It is sad to see it parted tho, was such a nice collection of parts.

I've been shopping for an Exige for a few months. I am considering selling the rotaries to fund an 07 or an 08 Exige.

One of the last pics i took of the RX7 before it sold:
Favorite pic before I had to say goodbye to one of them:
Haven't taken any pics of the Exige myself, but this was from the previous owner:
Car came with a Cusco LSD, Braille battery w/ quick disconnect switch, TRD Lotus Cup intake/air box, Moroso baffled oil pan, TODA lightweight flywheel, ACT heavy duty clutch, engine mount inserts, Sector 111 V2 arms, Lotus Euro y-spoke rims w/ R888s, the APR front canards, quick release steering wheel hub, momo 320mm steering wheel, and DBA rotors.
I'm in the process of doing a once-over on the car, going to flush all fluids, replace some yellowing Starshield clear bra pieces, and just ordered some Craftsquare side mirrors to replace those little T-rex arms the stock side mirrors look like to get better visibility.

Wow! Very sad to see that you sold the FD. I am even more sad to see that it's being parted out. Your FD was absolutely one of my favorites.
Best of luck with the Exige. I had someone interested in trading a daily driven (in New England - thing was a little beat) Exige for my FD. Glad it fell through. Definitely my obtainable dream car. Talking the fiance into three two seaters might be quite an uphill battle, bordering on impossible.

Like other have said, it's a shame to see this car parted out. One of my favourite build threads on here, and an awesome car.
Good luck with the Exige. Should be fun.

Holy crap.... when I first joined this forum, this was definitely one for the most NOTABLE rx7's that I've seen while perusing the net.
Keep us updated with that magazine spot...
from one M.E. to another, congrats with all your achievements.

Of the pic of your garage,IMO by far you sold the best car and it will eventually be.a.regret.
And yo have at least sold it to someone who wouldn't part it out. What a damn shame!
