humm you say the rebuild brake kit is straight forward but how simple would it be for someone whos never done it before or knows nothing of it. i want to paint mine and figure why not rebuild it while its off. Also how much does this kit cost? cant really call ray now since its 12am.

in fact, it took me 30 minutes of actual work even when dealing with 4 piston calipers. it takes like 2 seconds for a full floating style, but the dual sided fixed caliper is a little trickier.
the key is, use clean brake fluid while assembling, it acts as a lubricant, since its going to be in them anyways. also, when assembling, dont force the pistons in, lube the pistons first, then the bores. gently glide them in, the snap on the diaphrams, then the retaining rings.

I didn't coat the bottom of the car. Instead of coating the bottom of the car I did the floor pan on the inside. My understanding of the quiet car though, is it works best when applied directly to the metal surface. The under side of the car has that rubber coating on it stock. To get the best results I would assume you'd have to remove that rubber coating before applying the new sound deadening. I am no expert on sound deadening so I can't give a definitive answer to your question. Hope this helped a bit though
Having said this, the most bang for the buck with Quiet Coat comes from doing the inside of the doors. If you were to only do this, you'd notice a bid difference in sound reduction.

Tabarnak de calis......
Quick Sandblast not enough to heat up the part. Previous to this duct taped the boot and joint side (duct tape stands up to the abuse of the sandblaster). After that I gave it several coats of mat aluminium colored paint and voila. When they get dirty I just spray some water onto a rag and everything wipes right off.
I would have to get a good picture but with the POR'ed Subframe and the paint on the arms when you look at the car from under it it really looks nice.

UPDATE: There is nothing to update!
I have been too busy working on Clunkers to really get any work done on Pirate Hooker. I had to get Clunkers registered again, which entailed putting the stock cat on, electric air pump, 550cc injectors and throwing a different map on the PFC and lets not forget a window tint waiver. Go figure, I pass emissions but fail safety for window tint.
After getting my magical two year sticker I am doing some maintenance in preparation for the track days I have lined up this year. So in short, I should start making progress on Pirate Hooker in about a month or so.
You can see The engine sitting in the corner mocking me.
With the assistance of jhnrx7 we were able to wrap the midpipe with heat wrap. I think it came out pretty good. I used steel wire to secure the wrap in place.
I think Petrie is going to be my new part holder. Stock oil cooler drain plug pictured
and last but not least... Clunkers is going through some surgery, nothing to worry about. Though I think my radiator has a pinhole in it somewhere. I'm going to remove it tomorrow and have it pressure tested. Since I run the system at 0psi it hasn't really been an issue, just a small leak.

UPDATE
So John (Jhnrx7) and Austin (turbodrx7) came down/up to hang out this weekend at the shop. We were supposed to go out for a cruise but it was so damn hot out we bagged that idea and decided to throw the engine into Pirate Hooker. Thanks big time guys, putting an engine in is always easier with two or three people. Austin guided the trans in from under the car risking life and limb! Even though Austin put a V8 in his FD we still love him.
The engine went in with no problems. Instead of bolting the motor mounts to the engine first we put them on the sub-frame and dropped the engine onto the mounts (Noltech.)
Luckily GoodfellaFD3S was supervising the whole process to make sure nothing went wrong
We bolted up the PPF, but I need to get some locking washers for the drive shaft tomorrow and a few other little odds and ends before I can test fire the engine. I'm probably a few weeks away from actually cranking it over still.

PICS!

Thanks for snapping pics during the install process John!

Damn, man, that looks GOOD.
How did you do all the black on the engine? Is it powdercoat, ceramic, engine paint, what?
Also, I wonder if the airpump will have any problems kicking over with the paint, don't know if that would goof with the magnetic clutch. Oh, airpump, how I remember you.
