What is the latest update on the build??? I received my new short block from IRP last week. It arrived with no major issues. I will be breaking it down next month.

The car hasn’t been there for a year. We are on track with making that milestone. December 5th, 2019.
Which likely entails that I will not be driving it this year as Missouri approaches Winter. More likely March of 2021. I have also paid another a years insurance through hagerty to have it in someone else’s possession. My insurance policy payment upfront for the year is substantial.

I have tried and asked on numerous occasions to keep me updated, rotate their work load to focus on my vehicle, and bumping my car from the back burner job up front. The constant let downs of calling me back and the communication of false promises not being held verbally and through messaging. I’m upset.

I have not changed my plan with IRP since April 4th, 2020 when I agreed to the new contract to rebuild/refresh my engine since 2019 November’s contract

I received some evidence that work is being performed on my vehicle. After Two months of dry updates, I’m given two photos last Thursday. The custom haltech harness has been wired up and installed along with the v mount and the catback exhaust.

I'm confused, your car isn't at IRP? Where is it? If you don't want to say its understandable.

It is still at IRP being worked on. I would shoot myself in the foot if I were to have it removed in the middle of the install. It is not in my best financial interest to have another shop pick up the pieces and put what’s missing together in the middle of the build. I know a person who sold his rx7 and his parts out of frustration of that very same scenario. And I don’t want to experience that same frustration. They might not be as expedient, which Im at a constant gnarl of my teeth at them for, but they are one of the best in the country.

Im really enjoying the red contrasting accents in the engine bay. The oem red strut bar is going to create even more ambiance.

Car looks great Rocketeer and IRP!

I had a question as I am in the process of painting my engine bay. Is there a hard edge or a paint line here at the red arrows I drew? Thanks!

I don’t remember if it had a noticeable line when the engine bay was painted in May,2018. The car is at IRP So I won’t be able to take a detailed picture of the transition from the engine bay to the fender.

The fenders have OEM paint onto the lip in the engine bay that the hood covers (the rail with the bolts). Don't know if that answers your question.

Gerald, car is looking good!

Thanks for the reply. I hope I can get my car to look as nice as yours.

Any other plans? Or just enjoy it?

@silverTRD Don’t sweat your race or my race to completion. I’m confident that you will get your car the way you want it to be. My suggestion is to stick to your plan. As in try not to get caught up with the trends of these cars for “style points” But if you camber your wheels and slam it, I will disavow you.

As for future goals, if I’m not reinvesting into my house doing upgrades and landscaping, or going to national parks, I have several.

Maybe a GTC bumper, Shine auto front fenders and 99 spec side skirts, wider wheels and tires, ZK motoring mazdaspeed replica diffuser, Racebred components splitter,

But for the next upcoming driving season. I’m gonna hit every cars and coffee meet I can go too. (Satire)
Really though; I want to enjoy driving around the new state I live in, drop into small towns and antique, while also autocrossing. I might purchase my brother in laws 20 ft. Enclosed trailer too.

Thanks for the reply. I'm definitely sticking to the plan on my new one. Going for more of an OEM+ build as opposed to the street/track build of my other FD.
My wife is going to drive this one quite a bit so I'm just cleaning everything up and making sure it is safe. Having a great time with it as it's been a family project so far. It's pretty great really.
When I get this one back together, my whole family of 4 can go for a cruise.
I like your goals to get out and enjoy the car, my last one sat on jack stands too long and I lost some motivation a long the way which tends to happen.

Keep it up bud.

For the past several weeks, IRP has communicated professionally to the standard of a business of their caliber. They recognized my desire to be informed differently then others with status reports and build schedules as the final weeks are approaching. Thank You.

The Motor has been broken in between the winter storms and salted roads.

Top tier quality with a conservative and consistent tune that delivers every single drive. Whether it’s autocrossing, spirited driving , or cruising, with modern technology paired with the craftsman job IRP attended to will create many years of worry free ownership.

I’m leaving tomorrow morning to begin my trek towards IRP to pick up the Chaste White. But I need to make a stop in Cedar Rapids to borrow my brother-in -laws v-nose,20’ enclosed trailer before I make my way east on I-80.

Ihor, Paul, and crew are consistent in their quality of work and continue to grow for the needs of the community upholding standards for themselves while those same standards set the bar for other companies.
