Feed clutch slave cylinder

Objective
Find a way to get that oem feel back into my clutch pedal while still keeping a racing clutch that does not slip at 400 +rwhp

I removed the 4k mile oem master cylinder for inspection and also removed the oem 4k mile slave cylinder for inspection. Both looked in great shape. If you look at the last post you will see that the Feed slave cylinder seems to have a little longer rod to push the fork.

The rubber boot that goes around the rod on the end of the slave cylinder just pops off. If you could, pop it off both slave cylinders and compare.

The rods may be the same length, what's supposed to be different is the bore is larger and it has a larger piston in it.

Yes you are correct Dale. I found this out the hard way. When I originally installed the oem slave cylinder it was fairly easy with no issues. The install of the Feed was not without trouble. After install I tried to bleed the system but the pedal would not reach the floor until I released the pressure from the bleeder. The pedal also would not hold pressure. I continued to bleed the system until I heard a pop and the slave cylinder would not release any fluid at the bleeder. After many attempts I called my buddy Joey for some assistance. We discovered that the transmission was leaking brake fluid. On the bottom of the transmission we removed the cap so we may look into the transmission. We found that the slave cylinder rod fell into the transmission and I crapped my pants. I said damn I am going to have to remove the tranny. I said a prayer and placed my hand inside the tranny. I felt the rod and fished it out with a magnet. With Joey shining a light into the tranny I was able to align the slave cylinder to make contact with the clutch fork. Then I bleed the system and it worked. Man i was sweating bullets for sure. I will look at the oem to see if I can see the difference. I will give a few review on the performance of the Feed slave cylinder very soon.

That's a REAL common issue when re-installing the slave. I recommend removing the starter so you can get your hand in there and make sure the end of the slave is engaged with the fork. Since the end of the slave flops around more often than not it's hanging below where it should be, you get a few presses of the pedal before it ejects itself. Good thing is it isn't too bad to put back together but it makes a big damn mess and is a pain.

FEED clutch slave cylinder review

Hello my fellow rotards. This Is going to be my review for the Feed clutch slave cylinder. First of all I would like to start by thanking FEED Engineering for continuing to make great parts for are cars. So here is my review. In the quest to make my modified rx7 feel a little closer to oem I bought a Feed Clutch Slave cylinder. When I installed and drove my rx7 with the ACT 6 puck sprong clutch I immediately noticed how it just felt like it was either on or off. The engagement was not smooth at all. I lived with it for many miles and chucked off as just one of those things I had to deal with. I read a thread about the feed clutch slave cylinder and how it was so great. I figured why not. I purchased one and then drove my car. Immediately a smile came over me as I released the clutch pedal and gave the car some gas. I was blown away how the engagement was so much smoother and predictable. The gear changes were even better. I got that oem feel back in my pedal and it made the car that much more enjoyable to drive. One of the best mods I have done to my car. Well worth the money hands down.

That’s great to hear! I recently purchased the feed space as well to use with my exedy twin disc. The pedal feel is ok on the Exedy, but it’s like a trying to hit a moving target with the engagement. So I’m glad to hear it has worked well for you in this application.

Thats me all day... not scared to try!
Success or failure, you learn along the way.
No shop build here. Just some garage guy build....lol

I need to pick up one of those FEED slave cylinders.
You're about the 5th person to post positively about it.
Again thanks for the review.

Sorry to hear it did not work well with your clutch. I am sure it differs from clutch to clutch.

I think my post was unclear. I have not installed my FEED slave yet. I'm excited that it helped you as well others who have had similar issues to mine with the twin disc. I will get to installing it soon.

How would you say pedal feel is now with your ACT clutch? I know you said its smooth but how about the effort?

Thanks!

The effort is about the same. It feels as though I have more travel in the clutch pedal for engagement. The oem slave cylinder gave me a very short engagement feel. On or off. This one gives you a feel of it's coming on before it is just on. Sorry for the delayed reply.

It's the small things

Thanks to my buddy Joey who made this bracket for my wastegate lines. Just a little touch to make things look cleaner in the engine bay. Tomorrow we will be adding the a/c unit into the car. Much more to come soon.

This car has not had the AC system for a long time. My buddy Joey once again gave me the helping hand and all ac lines were placed in the car. Unfortunely we found that the hose from the condenser to the ac compressor had a leak. I sent the hose out to get fixed and 53 dollars later it is on stand by to be placed int the car tomorrow. If you noticed that the ac line looks different than the oem hose. I had to bend and manipulate it to fit the vmic setup. It was a pita. Tomorrow I shall see if this system actually works. There are many unknowns especially since I am running a microtech computer. Wish me luck I am going to need it. Brap on

This AC system has been out of this car since 2005. The car was rebuilt in 2015 with no AC. Today we put the fixed line back in and checked for leaks. No leaks so we were on the right path. Then the next question was, is this the jdm compressor from the jdm engine or was this the ac compressor from my old usdm motor. Then there was the question of, was this compressor any good. We charge the system and turned the car on. After turning the car on I turn the ac on and no cold air blows. The compressor did not turn on. We connected the compressor directly to the battery and bam. The air came out super cold on idle. So basically I just need to go to Jesus Padilla of Kilo Racing and have him hook up the ac unit to the microtech. . He will need to also get the car to idle while the compressor turns on. For me it is a big win. I am a little closer to that street car feel i wanted. More to come. Next item is the suspension which will be polly. A little more track related item. Brap on
