Thanks AE RACER. I think the re amemiya shift **** will get also since it is not made of leather. The leather sont get as hot but they seem to show wear incredibly fast.

Thank you Red94fd. I think the only down fall will be is that this shifter **** will get hot. I might fabricate some type of cover for when ever the car is outside.

So I got home from work and started cutting the grass thinking I am not messing with that shift **** today. Well I finished mowing the lawn and starting messing with the shifter. Instructions were in Japanese so I was lost. Took sometime to study the shifter and bam i figured it out. The shifter design is a real simple design but very well engineered. The shifter **** has three shifter height adjustments. I went with the middle ground adjustment. I think it looks great and cant wait to drive the car tomorrow.

Looks good, how tall does it sit compare to the RX-8 ****? As for the heat, get a Covercraft sun shade, they are custom made for each car so it covers the entire windshield. My shift **** never gets hot from parking outdoor which that cover on, it also keeps my interior cooler and less UV damage from the sun.

Thank you ZE Power. The shifter is shorter for sure than my rx8 ****. Thank you for the advice I will be looking into purchasing one of those windshield covers

So today I drove the FD with the re amemiya short shifter and carbon fiber shift ****. The feel was ok and the shifts were great. The shifter is definitely a short shifter. With that said I am still getting used to the shorter shifter. The rx8 in my opinion has the best shift **** feel. I do like the re amemiya shift **** but I need to drive more miles to really get used to it. The shifter is beautiful for sure though. I will keep it in the car to see if after some more miles I get used to it.

Great thread! Build is coming along very nice so far.
Thank you for taking the interior back to oem! I apologize, but that mix of fake wood. carbon fiber, and red paint made me gag.

atm0706 Thank you. I am trying my best to make changes that are going to enhance appearance, improve reliability, drivability and performance. It is a very hard balancing act and it takes the right parts. I dont want to over due the car either. I am embarrassed by the old interior but I wanted to share it with everyone since it was part of the build. So if anyone wants to paint there interior please learn from my mistake and dont do it. Lol

Interesting, that is a Razo shift ****. I've had/installed a ton of them back in the day. REALLY well engineered and quality. I don't know if it's just a regular **** from Razo that they put their logo on or if Razo made it for them. The "Carmate" sticker is the 100% that it is a Razo **** - that's the parent company.

Their method of using the plastic inserts is brilliant. They don't rattle and they aren't like the crappy Momo ***** that use set screws. It WILL NOT come off in your hand either. You can unscrew it and screw it back on many times as well.

If you want to go on the cheap-cheap and not have the Amemiya branding:

Yes Dale you are right. I just saw the pic of the razor shift knpb. I paid $80.00 for the re amemiya shift **** aka (razor ****). So I basically paid 30 bucks for the a sticker. The sticker helps me shift faster though. Lol.

So after driving my car for a few days on the re amemiya shifter I switched back to the good old rx8 shifter. I know that the rx8 shift **** in the rx7 has been a popular mod but it works great. For me the rx8 shift **** just seems to fit like a glove. My shifts feel a lot smoother with the rx8 shift ****. I am 6ft 2inch and the re amemiya ameyia shifter just seems to thin. I love the look of the re amemiya shift **** but it just lacks in feel. My shifts feel a bit notchy with the re amemiya shift ****.

So I had this feed style splitter made by the same guy who made the side ones. In this picture it is not mounted on securely. I place it on there to see what it would look like. For some reason I am not 100 percent happy with it. I love the lines of the rx7 and this to me is taking a little away. Maybe it's too aggressive. I know some may like it. I think I may keep it and try to trim it so it's not so. Well I cant think of a word but I am not really liking it. It may help with some down force but like I said it's a street/track day build. I am thinking if I pull it back a little and trim the corners it may flow better with the oem rx7 lines. Either way I will post when I modify it. For know i stay with the oem r1 lip.

Thanks. Res94fd. I will modify it a little to see if it works for me. Either way if anyone wants custom feed style spoilers pm me. I will let the guy use mine as a mold.

Sorry for the question that will be taking this back to the first few pages lol, but your Aspec turbo kit, where did you get it from? I’ve tried looking it up and can’t find it.

h_turbo No problem. One of the reason I put this thread together is to help other rotary owners with there builds. I bought this turbo back in 2016 from Sean who is the owner of Aspec. It was custom made and is a pte 1ar divided 6262 bb turbo, twin wastegates with 4inch d.p. Sean was very popular for his great turbo kits here on the rx7 forum. In 2016 Sean had some personal issues and kinda of fell off the rotary world. I hope he is doing ok. He made some really good turbo kits.

So since we are the topic of my turbo system from Aspec, let me do a review on it.
The turbo is super responsive and does not grasp for air on the higher revs. I ran a low boost of 12lbs and a high boost of 15lbs. I reach full boost at about 3300-3500 rpm and the highest boost I have ever ran on this turbo was 23lbs. At 23lbs it's just a waist since the tires just get roasted even in second gear. I do have to admit I was smiling the whole time though. The noise that comes from a dual wastegate setup is crazy. On boost the motor just sounds like its pissed off. The majority of the time it is awesome but sometimes I am not in the mood for all that noise. The 4inch downpipe allows the exhaust to flow freely but the smell of premix fuel from those wastegates can be strong at times. Although mixing 12 onces of 112 racing gas helps with he odor. Over all I am happy with this system but I sometimes think about doing a 8374 iwg turbo kit. I still have some other things to tackle on the car so that is a no go for now. I dont want to get rid of my setup now even if i pull the trigger on the 8374. The horror stories of boost creep on the 8374 iwg with 4 inch d.p scares me a little.

I had my abs removed so in the near future I can add a big brake kit. With that said my first step after removing the abs was to add a willwood proportional valve. I had it painted black so it would not stand out in the engine bay. I took the car out for some hard braking. At first I was locking up the front tires fairly easy. I started adding some more back brake bias. Then the rear tires were looking up to easily. A little more adjusting between the front and the back and then bam it was perfect. This brake proportion valve was not that expensive and I was really happy with the end result. I do have to add that I have aftermarket brembo rotors and hawk pads. The brake system is decent but there is room for improvement.

A quick review on my ohlins coilovers. When I was shopping for suspension I was in between ohlins and tein. I rode in my buddies 1994 rx7 with tein and it was pretty good. He had a controller that adjusted his suspension on the fly. I come from a sportbike/track bike world and the name ohlins is big. They have a very good reputation for providing many racers a great suspension. With that said I decided on the ohlins. The coilovers had to be put together to a specific spec. That took me a little while but I got it done after some measuring. Once put together, I installed them in the car. I adjusted them originally to a ride height of 25 inches at the fender. This was a little to low and I rubbed and damaged the drivers side fender. I raised the car to 25.5 and the problem went away. The suspension works great. It decreases the amount of body roll and it soaks up bumps very well. It does not jump around like most damped coilover cars. The coilovers really help the car to rotate and I dont get the oem understeer. I am extremely happy with the performance of the ohlins. In my opinion they were worth the extra money compared to less expensive coilovers.
