Thank you! It is time consuming work. Once you get started you know why the pros charge so much for a job well done. It is not easy and to do it right, takes patience. It can be back breaking work bending over or sitting on a roll around. Up and down, wiping and starting over again.
It’s not to terribly intimidating. If you don’t have patience I would not start on a black car for your first try
When it is done though,, there is a sense of accomplishment!
I appreciate the comments. It was a ton of work, working the swirls out and getting it right. I swear this car hasn’t had a correction, ever. It was truly due some attention and really takes some patience to do it right. My car rarely see’s pavement but it does get washed and it makes a noticeable difference when you have a slick finish. Everything is just easier.
That's strange. The tender should do its job. Is it "smart", meaning it cycles the battery charge level a bit?
I think your on to something here. So I have been using a Battery Tender brand maintainer and when Googling the subject I find that you need the "Plus" model to be effective on AGM batteries. Looking even further I found a CTEK 5.0 maintainer for sale on fleabay that is made for all battery types and has a feature to bring back life to AGM batteries that have otherwise crapped out. It will be interesting to see if this thing will revive the two I have now. If not, I have the correct maintainer for the next battery and my Ducati. Will post up pics when it comes in and I do or do not get results.

Hopefully my solution to AGM battery maintenance is in. I have two batteries to test this on that act like they are toast with my other non agm tender. This should be good for my Ducati battery as well. I’ll post results when I have them.
I had a fairly new Optima red top that went totally dead sitting in my FC.
I trickle charged it for like a month and then it came back good as new and I used again in the FC and then in my next car for years when I parted FC.
24 hours later and there is hope on battery 1. It was completely dead at .51 volts. The charger errored out and did not charge. I put the “big” charger on it at 35 amps and woke the battery up enough to get the CTec to respond. It went all night and failed on step one when I checked it in the morning (6 volts holding). I simply restarted it for one more try. Tonight it is on step 3 indicating 12.6 volts. Fingers crossed it continues past step 5 tonight. Battery is slightly warm.
First battery attempt is a bust. 7.5 volts is all it will do after 3 tries. Moving on to the next. I expect better results on the next one since it still has decent volts, just not enough to start the car. More to follow...
Decided to try the Ducati battery next. It’s a little smaller but an AGM none the less. The condition of the battery was 7 volts. It charged all night and by mid day was done.
Since I was having success I decided to try the next battery that is still in the 7. By the time I was done tractoring and cutting trees it was indicating it was fully charged and on the maintenance stage (fully charged). I’m leaving it on over night and will try to start the car in the morning. No doubt it is going to work.
Well, so much for that. I thought for sure I was going to have success. I got 12 volts but no CCA. It won’t even run the blower motor much less crank the car. I have a good battery maintainer but both 51r batteries are toast. Yellow top or LiFPO4, not sure what to try next. Lipo is def an expensive option but I am still not sure which to buy, size wise. Bummed for now.
So I started getting a pretty annoying “click, click” start. Checked all the clutch switch and had power at the starter, just no coil ignition for the starter. I went ahead and ordered Banzai Racing’s relay that is nice and clean for install, to boost direct battery power to the starter. It did not resolve my issue even though I believe it is good preventive medicine to have.
when I ordered the relay I went ahead and ordered the “security bypass” as well. Once I put it in circuit I had resolved my problem. The car starts every time. I have no after market alarm and have no hacked up wiring on the car. This would make one think that considering the miles on the car (20,000) this common occurrence has little to do with use but primarily age....
