Been busy
Hello everyone! Life has been happening fast so to speak. Oldest son got hitched to his HS sweet heart. Business is hopping. Been moving some vehicles around, sold my 2500hd (need to modify signature line). I've been working on a Jeep build and my RX's got the short end of my attention for a while here.
Next post will be about getting back on track

So before I make my appointment with the tuner I need to accomplish a couple more things on my list. A short list but doesn't it seem the closer you are to getting done the longer it takes to finish, the last 5-10%?
1. Upgraded fuel pump, I have it, I chose the Walboro.
2. PFC and commander, I also have a mount to clean up the install under the dash.
3. Mazda Miata antenna (power) to fix the factory antenna only going half way up while working in the back on fuel pump. I just ordered the upper part of the antenna to see if it would be compatible.
This morning I installed my new Bubble Tech under hood appearance package. I like the look but as usual it is leading to even more work and $'s. Now I am going to have to look into a different battery setup.

I PM'd him and he doesn't have one, I tried to see if he would start another GB but I don't think he sees enough opportunity. I think he could get at least 10 but he needs 20.

^You guys did it to me now^. So I got my hands on a Turbo Jeff battery tray thanks to thebigesii, ordered the Exide 51R from CARID and took Narfle's suggest on the battery hold down from JDM Password
Now I just have to wait for the powder coat on the battery tray, soooo. I thought I might take the SMIC & pipes and get them done too, just leaving the Greddy elbow, similar to the factory look. Thoughts?

Battery tray back from powder and took Narfles suggest on the hold down and as others have done with AGM battery. Looks to be better open surface for cooling now as well. One more thing checked off the list.
Still contemplating powder coating the IC pipes and SMIC but just haven't convinced myself to do it yet.

Oh she drives! We are blessed with an abundance of work right now and the elk are calling my name in Colorado... have to take an archers break in September to stock the freezer.
I did get a set of dental type picks to remove the plugs/wires from the ecu. I just can't stand the thought of cutting them in order to put the PFC in. Next project.

Pulling the pins out of the ECU plugs isn't too hard.
Protip - get an old windshield wiper blade and pull the metal "strip" out of the blade. Cut to a reasonable length and sharpen one end. Works awesome as a pin extractor tool, it stays stiff but gives just enough area to push down the plastic retention tabs. And you can make different shapes and sizes just as easily.

I do have some very good hemostats so it takes about 5 minutes to do with no worries of damaging the other pins.

Been a while
My project has been on hold for a while due to breaking a leg in Colorado on an expedition and building other toys. She still has her luster and just about to turn 20K miles. Running great and pulling hard I just need to load her up and take a ride to Dallas for tuning to squeeze the rest out of the potential. I believe I am done with the reliability mods and HP bolt ons that I think it needs to stay true to the car and keep the originality should I sell it at some later date. At some point you have to call it quits on the mods or they will take over the car and reduce the value. I don’t think I have passed that point. Then again there is always an opinion out there...

Still under 20k miles and holding with stock tune. Runs great with reliability mods as it is. With the value of the cars climbing I struggle with doing anymore to it as an original low mile car. I am keeping all the parts to turn it back to stock if need be. I’ve had 7’s in my life for quite a few years and it’s exciting to see their value start to rise.
Meanwhile, I have had a distraction of the V8 kind. For when the whole family wants to go fast with me.. another car of future value...
With the prices rising on the FD it will be hard to resist selling if there were real offers in excess of $50k or $60k in the future. Realistically that would have been a solid investment, but then again, where is it yet to go? I think I will still look for new wheels for mine in the time being and enjoy it my way a bit more.

Dale Clark’s PFC manual says to be sure before installing the Power FC that you should be sure your car is in tip top running order. I may be taking this a bit far but I have a drain on my car every now and again, the garage queen she is, so I figure I better resolve. I have a sneaky suspicion it is a bit of old technology that has been riding side kick that has a tendency to get left on after I park the car. Since it has no value and is no longer used I figure it better get gone. Although it has brought on many a conversation, it can’t be modded back to life and is a thing of the past. Bat phone, brick phone, bye bye. Hope this is my problem and as long as it is I will not miss you.

Quick trip to NY city for the new year and a reminder how fortunate I am to have plenty of parking where I live. I can’t imagine parking in these situations and I would imagine my Denali would not exist in the city or be banned first time I “pushed” my way in or out of a spot..
Now, in order to protect your investment you must put bumpers on your little car (front and rear). Or you fashion a rubber bumper cushion that really adds style!
Imagine a set of tube bumpers or a rubber diaper on your RX7,, SWEET! Maybe not.... Again, no disrespect to my brothers and sisters in the big city as it was just a reminder to me how lucky I am to have freedom to parallel park with some distance, even a crew cab 1-ton (it was an eye opener). I had a great time in the concrete jungle while I was there. No place like it.
It it was also in turn a lesson to me about “city” cars and the purchase of them. Though not many of the cars I consider buying are from the city. I always think about where the car comes from when buying a car to consider factors such as rust. If they use salt on the roads for ice. If it is near a coast line for salty air, rust consideration. I don’t think I have ever factored a city car into the mix but I can tell you I would now. Doesn’t matter if it had been repainted or not. I saw cars with all four corners, new, shment. That is my new word for bent and smashed.
To to be clear, I am not saying there are not great cars everywhere around the city and maybe right in the city in special conditions. Heck I saw a few nice ones. A saw a great Bentley waiting on someone outside, no doubt very important to someone with lots o dinero and the car was tended to by an armed driver! It was not likely to get parked too close too either.

If I could only impose my car on this background I would have it made. I think Mike (ZoomZoom) has a white fd with a similar back drop I saw somewhere on the forum.

Bat phone is out! Had to pry open the mount using the back end of crescents to not ruin the leather when removing the tight u-bolt around the parking brake. We will have to see if the indent ever pops back out..
